"V" for vaccine! Prayut evokes Winston Churchill in upbeat visit to vaccine center

Thailand's Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha evoked memories of Britain's wartime PM Winston Churchill yesterday.

It was nothing short of a rallying call to the Thai people for unity in the face of the battle.

"Big Too" as he is known in Thailand was flashing the "V" sign but rather than meaning 'victory' he was referring to V for Vaccine.

He also did a few heart shapes to show how much he loves the Thai people, reported Daily News yesterday.

Prayuth and his entourage were at The Mall Bangkapi in eastern Bangkok yesterday. The shopping center will be used as one of 25 non-hospital venues for vaccination in the Thai capital.

On arrival the PM was greeted by a gushing Mall Group chief Suphalak Ampuch who initiated a chorus of the latest slogan: "Hua Jai Thai, Thai Chuay Thai, Thai Suu Suu" (Thai heart, Thais help Thais, Thais fight on!").

An upbeat PM responded by saying "Happy Happy" in English and doing his gestures.

Yesterday was all about Prayuth and all about his calls for unity and co-operation in rolling out the vaccine.

He mentioned to the gathered ranks of Thai press that he had never criticized the Thai population who he loved. He had a few negative words for some people who he said had been dissing him behind his back, however.

His message was that everyone must sing from the same hymn-sheet.

Questioned about reports coming from Buriram that people in high risk groups might be jailed for not having a vaccine Prayuth was diplomatic rather than critical, notes Thaivisa.

He hid behind standard rhetoric that provincial governors are entitled to have their own measures and those, like the mask wearing fines, could be toned down to smaller fines as necessary.

And the audience returned the 'V' sign but with the hand facing the other way.

Soon to be a new Friday night prime time show starring Prayut and his buddies.  It will be called "The Grand Ole BS Show", they will show high dollar watches, Millions of masks, and all of the now empty brown envelopes, while doing a telethon event like Jerry Lewis used to do to raise funds for those less fortunate Government officers.....

Hiding behind his rhetoric is standard.  Wish he would make himself disappear like David Copperfield.

Shouldn't this be: 'provokes Winston Churchill'? And, HEY!, where's the cigar?

Churchill played a major role in winning a world war, despite the fact he wasn't a general. Regardless of his flaws, he's widely regarded as one of his nation's greatest sons (and daughters).

This general's only military (or any other) victory was shooting mostly unarmed Thais then stripping them of their elected government. I see a difference.

If he was the same great man as Churchill I would respect it but it looks more like the enemy than without the small moustache.   Sieg.....H...

Cigar? That goes to the winner. ????

The only parallel between Churchill and Phayut is two raised fingers, other than that you couldn't in your widest dreams ever consider anything similar.

Is this some sort of  parallel universe Prayut!

Prayuth and Churchill are as similar as pla raa and Norwegian cured salmon.

Happy happy, he is the only 1 who is happy, how the hell can he be happy with the GIANT mess he has created with his dithering.

Let me try a little paraphrasing here...

"Never have so many owed nothing to so few [as in Prayuth's Thailand]"

Edited by Misterwhisper

Hmm.  I disagree.  It doesn't seem like a Churchill moment at all.

IT feels more like a carnival compete with Tom-Waits stylings, clowns, whores with bottles of whisky, drunkeness, cigarette smoke.  A bar from hell.

No, I don't see Churchill in this place.

Can't you just picture the music?  The sticky bar?

I would love to show him the V Moe from the 3 Stooges gives Curly.

Hey, they have also won the battle of many brown envelopes.

Give the man credit when credit is due!

Far from the truth. No one believes this unless it really says: He also did a few heart shapes to show how much he loves himself, his Junta, the elite, and all the money he has made after the coup and after stealing the election. He actually just disgraced Winston Churchill who is one of my favorite pastime of all people, and he was for all people not only just his own race.

Wouldn't have happened at all.  We'd all be speaking German.

I am sure he's happy that his offshore bank account is piling up the dollars while people are dying in their thousands every day because of his incompetence.

The comparison to the great man Churchill is sickening, and if I remember correctly Stalin also used heart shaped gestures In front of his people, he was also greatly admired.............not.

Huh?

Thailand's  daily deaths  from ALL causes has actually slightly decreased since the start of the global pandemic to less or near than 500 per day on average.

Perhaps  you were referring to another famous incompetent?
