Over 100,000 people have expressed interest in receiving the Moderna vaccine through the privately owned Thonburi Healthcare Group (THG) only one day after registrations opened, its chairman said on Wednesday. 

 

It is expected that the number could reach around 300,000, Dr Boon Vanasin added.

 

The cost is 1,800 – 2,000 baht per dose, excluding additional medical fees that could range from a further 300 – 500 baht depending on the hospital, he said. The group will also be offering options for additional health and immunity check-ups after the vaccinations, for another 500 baht.

A lot of Thais are 100% sure they are not going to accept the Chinese vaccine.

 

While there is no choice, even when the AZ vaccine is available I suspect uptake will be much lower than if they could for example announce that people will get the AZ vaccine.

 

If people turn up and it's the Chinese vaccine I expect many will simply stand up and walk out without being vaccinated with this Chinese <deleted> - this will look very bad when it hits the press who will no doubt be waiting outside the vaccination centers.

 

It's coming - give it a week or two.

 

The government could of course relent and allow people to choose the AZ vaccine once it's available and quietly phase out the usage of the Chinese vaccine, maybe they can use the Chinese vaccine stock on all the migrant workers who will likely take anything that allows them to continue working normally.

 

100% Money Grab trying to scam people.

 

The US has given away millions and millions of doses free.

 

The injection takes one second, why would there be additional fee's and health checkups?

 

Leave it to the Thai's to profit on anything they possibly can, even a pandemic.

Number could reach @300 000? Think the numbers will reach a little more than that just quietly. It'll be flying off the shelves

Come September, Thonburi will issue an apology due to the vaccine being delayed.

 

Those that have registered will need to wait a further 2/3 months.

he price is getting up.. first not more than 3000 THB included everything, a few days ago 1000 to 1500 THB yesterday 1500 to 2000 THB today 1800-2000 THB  excluded insurance and medical costs....   Who will get the extra money??

Hasn't even been ordered yet.

 

We're still in the "investigating methods to purchase the vaccine" phase.

 

Given the potential revenue I think it will eventually be ordered. Maybe some portion can be expedited? But I'll believe it when Moderna confirms an order and provides an ESD.

 

I did register THG, for the record. I'm 0-fer on registrations panning out to date.

Think you have to use the LINE app, then DL a module from the THG contact, then fill in the details, all in Thai so line up soem help if needed, that's what I did.

 

 

Can't imagine the number of telemarketing calls, email and chats we'll be getting in the future.

What is the point of registrations for vaccinations  everywhere and for every kind, when there are no actually vaccinations is available to give  other than the SinoVac...  

500 baht for checkups. That's 10 times what Thai paid.

This just shows more proof that so many thai and foreigner do not want the free vaccine that Thailand is offering and even though times are hard because of the unnamed lockdown. People are more willing to take on the expense to get a proper vaccine using the little cash they are earning rather than take the free one being offered. It is a sad thing to think. But I am also one of those that registered for this moderna and like so many am afraid to take a chance with their free vaccine.
