The parents of the little girl murdered in the north east of Thailand more than a year ago have spoken to the Thai media.

Anamai and Sawitri Wongsricha appeared on the Thai Rath News Show.

This came as three year old Nong Chompoo's uncle Chaiphol Wipha, 44 - the man Thais know as Lung Phol after his rise to celebrity status - spent his first night behind bars accused of her murder.

The parents thanked the Thai police and all the investigators for their tireless work over the last year and more. They thanked all the people who have supported them.

It has not been easy. Many in Thailand have criticized them for being involved in some way only exacerbating the pain of losing a much loved daughter.

They said they had got back from hearing the refusal of an application for bail on the grounds of the suspect's unpredictable behavior and intimidation of witnesses.

He reportedly denies the charges.

They said they had been crying a lot - it had all come out after being pent up for a year. They said they wanted to ask Lung Phol:

"Did you do it or not, if you did, why?"

Nong Chompoo was found naked in Khao Phu Lek Fai in Mukdahan three days after she disappeared from her house on May 11th 2020.

They spoke stoically of trying to put everything behind them and move on with their lives despite the enormous pressures they have faced as every aspect of the case has been analyzed in the Thai media.

But Chompoo's mother stressed that they had never had any problem or arguments with the suspect.

At first they refused to believe that he could have had anything to do with their daughter's death.

But as the evidence bult and his behavior became more suspicious their doubts increased.
