I am confused, the more I read the worse it is about making a choice between the two hospitals. i just want some simple Autologus Fat injections to the face and I am looking for the best hospital and doctor to do this, as any one one would. are the prices between the two that different ? and are the medical standards between the two any different, is this just a pricing issue. I have had a not so pleasant experence at the Apex clinic (for thermage treatment) with a line 'em up get 'em out as soon as possible, no explaining about what they were doing and why they were doing things, there were lots of people linned up on beds like a production line. I went there because they are reputed to be the only clinic in the world to perform so many of them.(and it was not eactly cheap).

Can any one highlight the differences between the two and do they think Yanhee is better for cosmetic work over Bumrungrad.

I can't speak from personal experience about facial surgery/treatments but I have had other surgery done at both hospitals. As far as I can tell, as a layman, both hospitals have high standards, modern equipment, and well trained doctors. There is a significant difference in cost, with Bumrungrad being the more expensive.

At different times, and for different problems, I have been to both hospitals. After cataract surgery in my left eye, I went back to Yanhee for the same proceedure on my right eye. Several years ago, I had gall bladder surgery at Bumrungrad. At both hospitals I received excellent care. All the doctors, nurses, etc. seemed to know what they were doing and were willing to explain things to me.

As for facial surgery, Yanhee has an international reputation for various plastic surgery procedures. For what it's worth, Yanhee is known for its sex change operations, being one of the leading hospitals in the world. Anyway, I would not hesitate to go there for any procedure I might want. They have an international department for dealing with non-Thais.

As hospitals, there is no difference except in cost, with Yanhee being the less expensive of the two. In terms of equipment, nursing care etc don't think there is much difference.

However the key question is not which hospital but which doctor. No one hospital has all the best doctors for every type of procedure. In fact one sometimes finds the top specialist for a particular field in a less than top hospital, simply because it happens to be a convenient location for him or her to have their private practice.

The procedure you want done is not all that common in Thailand. Look for whoever has the most experience in fat injections/implants.

I had some fat injected into some parts of my face as part of an overall face lift (fat lipo'ed off my neck injected into creases around the mouth) with very good results, that was with Dr. Amorn Pomee at Bumrungrad.

I suggest you contact both hospitals and ask specifically for the names of doctors who have done a lot of fat injections, then research their qualifications. Don't worry about which hospital, choose the doctor.

RE: Fat Injections

I couldn't agree more in that your most important consideration is your surgeon.

With that said, I'm copying below details I just placed on another thread re: Dr. Witoon who is extremely well-respected in Thailand. You will have to check with him as to whether or not he performs the above procedure. Also, he will in all honesty tell you whether or not you require that procedure, or if another might be more beneficial.

The surgeon to whom I refer time and again is Dr. Witoon. Check out the internet for excellent recommendations by his former patients. I've experienced surgery with him twice and intend to do so again, very soon. He is enormously skilled, talented, and he cares about his patients. In my opinion, it is the best decision one who is considering cosmetic surgery in Thailand could make!!! His details below:
