Amazing video shows the moment elephant breaks into house in Hua Hin

Damm that is not something you want to encounter at night while walking. Could be the end of you. Still from a distance and with a safe retreat it would be nice to see.

Where are all the broken concrete blocks from the hole in the wall?

It's an open kitchen.

My wife said from listening to TV report that he was after some salt.

In the wild elephants have places where they lick salt, which they need for their health. These salt licks are thousands of years old. Maybe his salt lick has been redeveloped.

Those air bricks are very flimsy and often used by burglars to gain entry.

Perhaps the intelligent, dexterous and furtive Elephant gently extracted the blocks, one by one, quietly depositing them on the ground outside the house?

Why doesn't somebody in authority with half a brain make sure this animal is properly fed ? A rather sad story.

Yes of course. Many wild animals going hungry these days.

According to the report this particular chang is known in the area. His normal salt lick may just be too far to <deleted> with when humans keep handy bags of it just the other side of wall with a big open window.
