A command centre, called “EOC Phuket Sandbox” has been set up on the resort island, with 70% of its equipment installation complete. Phuket will be the first province to welcome fully vaccinated foreign visitors, without quarantine, from July 1st, according to the government.

 

The centre will be up and running in the coming days, according to Energy Minister Supattanapong Punmeechaow, Tourism and Sports Minister Phlipat Ratchakitprakarn and Phuket Governor Narong Woonsiew, today (Friday), who met with local authorities to discuss final preparations.

 

The centre will be used, along with the “Mor Prom” and “Mor Chana” apps, to track the movements of foreign tourists on Phuket, in an effort to control the spread of COVID-19. Tourists will be required to install one of the apps upon arrival. If an infection is found, the information will be sent to health investigators so tourists can seek treatment.

Why is it that only foreigners are being targeted and looked down on as disease ridden dogs.  I'm fully vaccinated but will still be looked at with utter disgust simply because I'm a foreigner.  Doesn't make for a pleasant holiday.

I think you are exaggerating...........or, you have a particularly large wart on your nose.

Daily 2.000-3.000 of locals getting the virus they dont care much about, but fully vaccinated tourists need insurances, 24/7 monitoring, face masks, wristband trackers, quarantines, 3 x long stick in the nose etc etc ????.

The success of the surveillance room will be based on the tourist fines and tourist extortion activity. The financial rewards are limitless. To the best of my knowledge a feasability study was performed and it was determined that the project would pay for itself in fines within 2 weeks. Welcome to the Phuket sand trap. The photo is a real winner for tourism, I don't know how anyone who could resist from being spied on.

Just the name "command center" is enough to frighten tourists!

Presume command centre  will be backed up by Thai Rangers on Horse back ready to herd any tourists to nearest field hospital and deportation after being subject to hefty medical bills.

My friend was seriously thinking of coming but when he saw the ridiculous efforts being made by the dysfunctional Police officers to ensure his and his families every move , he decided that ( having been here before and seen the corruption ) he will NOT subject his family to such scrutiny . He said as we all know , Muppets ion Uniform with zero intelligence .

Kind of reminds me of the late 60s British TV show “The Prisoner”. Use all those cameras to find the big white balloon coming out of the water.
