4.7 million AstraZeneca doses delivered in Thailand, 1.3 million more due this week

Checkpoints set up in Bangkok to stop construction workers leaving their sites

Six checkpoints are being set up in Bangkok and police and troops have been deployed to construction worker dormitories, in and around the capital, to prevent workers leaving their compounds and potentially spreading COVID-19, as the facilities are sealed for one month, effective today (Monday).

How the hospitality workforce on the Andaman coast is adapting to survive the coronavirus pandemic

In 2004, when a deadly tsunami hit Thailand’s Andaman coast, Khao Lak in Phang Nga province and Phuket were left devastated. Thousands of people lost their lives, including Thais and foreign tourists. Most resorts along the beautiful beaches were completely destroyed.

Police bust B200mn online gambling ring in Chalong

PHUKET: Officers from the Police Cyber Taskforce (PCT) arrested two men at a house off Chao Fa West Rd in Moo 5, Chalong, on Saturday (June 26) for operating nine gambling websites that together had a turnover of more than B200 million.

Tap water in Bangkok, 2 other provinces, turns brackish, but still safe

Households in Bangkok, Nonthaburi and Samut Prakan have been warned that their tap water may occasionally taste brackish, due to the high content of sodium chloride, but that it is still safe for consumption.

Sinovac vaccine has 71-91% efficacy against COVID-19 Alpha variant – MOPH

Thailand’s Public Health Ministry announced the results of a real world study of the efficacy of the Chinese-made Sinovac vaccine conducted in Thailand today (Monday), showing that two doses of the vaccine are highly efficacious in the prevention of infection and death from the Alpha (UK) variant of COVID-19, at 71-91%.

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand's government has prepared about 7.5 billion baht ($235 million) to help ease the impact of restrictions imposed to curb a recent spike in infections, its prime minister said on Monday.
