impulse
“While the criminal case continues, in terms of a civil case, I have asked for B15 million. in compensation for his paralysis, to cover the cost for living in the future, and the cost of losing opportunity and income,” Mr Kerdphol said. “I do not know whether the police can pay that big amount,” he added. Amazing. He must have qualified immunity, even if he's drunk and apparently off duty according to what he was wearing.

Pornthep you are truly disgusting scum, you destroy a poor mans life. You were in a drunken stupor, caught on camera, yet have the bloody nerve to plead not guilty ,unbelievable. You deserve a bullet in your spine, same as your victim, see how you like it. 19

For pleading not guilty I hope he gets to serve the whole sentence he will surely get.

Popular Post greenmonkey
So they have now concucted this ridiculous story that the policeman was attempting to stop a fight between foreigners by shooting his gun in the air!!!!! So are the court to dismiss the video footage of the policemaan stood less than a meter from the victim and firing right at him!!!??? I mean c'mon....even by Thai standards this is a push... surely not... surely.
Popular Post rwill
Hard to say you are innocent when they have it on video. But you never know what will happen here.

Oh I missed the vital bit of the story... the policman's lawyer explained the video by saying that the policeman did intentionally shoot the victim because "he thought he was a bad man". If this whole thing wasn't so tragic it would be laughable
greenmonkey
sounds like the police also have 'witnesses' to corroborate the policeman's new version of events... oh dear i think we know where this is going.

If he can buy his way out of cold bloodedly shooting someone in the street while drunk captured for all to see on CCTV then you know Thailands justice system is broken. Compensation to the family should not buy him out of a long jail term.
Phuketshrew
Absolutely. But when you think of Red Bull and Koh Tao then you know it's broken. Surprised they have not tried to pin the blame on a farang or Burmese (yet) ...
Surelynot
His grounds for denying the charges are that he thought the noodle seller was a "bad man"........that'll work (in Thailand at least)

This story triggered a memory of the Thai policeman that murdered 2 Brit packpackers in Kanchanaburi (also whilst drunk I believe). he did get 2 life sentences which the judge then 'corrected' to one life sentence... would be very interested to know how much time he actually did serve... if anyone knows...?

And if I'm not wrong he worked as licensed tourist guide in Phuket for a while before they arrested him. TAT please explain me again how that works? I will tell you he probably entered a Wat for a while and got a new name and applied with that name. Met once met a tourist guide like this, two licenses under his real and monk name. Regarding this scumbag, maybe put some of his superiors and connections in jail as well.
