Fines for failing to do 90 day report.

A friend of mine hasn't done a 90 day report in 8 months.

I believe the fine is 2000 baht for walk-ins, and 5000 baht for those who get caught.

 

Am I wrong to assume if he walks in after 8 months the fine will be 2000 baht, and not 2000 X 2 or 3 ?

The standard fine for not doing a 90 day report is 2000 baht. The maximum fine is 5000 baht.

Once you miss the 'due date' by 7 days it's 2000 Baht, that's it.

 

There's zero motivation to go back into immigration until you need your next extension after those 7 days.

 

I've done it before. I forgot about it so I just waited it out until the correct date which would align with my extension - when I thought about it a little more I should have just waited until the extension as it would be the same 2000 Baht.

 

I now view them as optional if you have a couple of thousand baht to spare once a year.

Seems a good idea if you live a long way away from Immigration.

Syncing the TM 47 & 7 is a great idea also.

I would never suggest intentionally  not doing 90 day reports.

The standard fine is 2000 baht but if a immigration officer believed you were intentionally doing them late they could fine you 5,000 baht.

But surely they check it when applying for your yearly extension?

they do, "quam phit-go pay fine" then they check to see that you have all your documents in order and stamp your book, ignore it and leave

For me, as I mentioned in another thread, I "missed" mine but it wasn't through lack of trying. I got my retirement extension in one province, then relocated to another. In the new province (Chiang Rai) I filed a TM30, got a stamped receipt, and then presented the documents for the 90 day report which was also due in a few days. They refused to accept it, and said I had to go back to my old province to do it. I could not convince the I.O otherwise. I was leaving the country a month later, and have now left, so I'll deal with it and the 2000 baht fine when I return. Probably in future it will be no problem, everything in the same province, although I don't think I'll quite hit 90 days for each visit anyway, so irrelevant. I certainly woud not advise anyone to miss that report intentionally.

They will probably not even ask you when you return.

You do a 90 day report at the same time as the extension, pay any fine that's due then proceed with the extension.

 

Normally you're going to need to do one at the same time as the extension anyway as they should roughly align with each other.

The 90 days have nothing to do with the extension. Some immigration offices will give you a new 90 days report when you extend your visa. But the 90 days report is about staying in Thailand 90 days and nothing else. This is the reason why it is reset when you leave and come back to Thailand.

I always do a 90 day report on the same day as doing the extension, that way I don't have to return again like some kind of idiot a few days later.

Sounds like you haven't left Thailand on  holiday which shifts all the dates upon your reentry.

Can somebody please clarify if one needs to the 90 day reports if entered on Tourist Exemption around end January this year and have been on covid extensions since then?

Immigration has not been enforcing 90 day reporting for those on covid 19 extensions. Apparently they consider doing a extension application every 60 days equal to doing a report.

I never did it for the last four years. Never been fined. Never been asked for when doing re-entry permits at land borders and/or at immigration before catching a plane out of the country. Never been questioned when renewing my retirement yearly extension.

I have a 90 day report due in the next week or so here in Bangkok.  Been thinking that due to the recent restrictions/lockdown (whatever it’s called this time), that it might be better for me to just skip it and do it when I go for my annual extension (retirement) in October.  Probably worth the ฿2000 fine just to stay safe?  I just have the fear that if I play fast and loose like this that they might not give me my extension when the time comes.

Have you tried doing the report online? It may be a little late to do by mail now that is another option.

Unless they close the Muang Thong Thani office before you do your next extension it would mean going there to do a report and paying the fine before going to Chaeng Wattana for your extension.

I thought that the online reporting wasn’t currently working.  Also, I never got myself set up for it after I bought a condo and moved.  Would you happen to have a link so that I can give it a try?  If it doesn’t work, I guess I’ll just head in sometime this week.  Thanks for your help!

Lucky you, It only takes one IO that is paying attention to flag you as a repeat offender and cancel your visa. You are retired, there is plenty of time available to meet your civic duties.

It just opened for me. If using a VPN it will not open.

If you have not changed your address yet then it would be best to use your old address when you do it.

Doesn’t seem to work for me.  I’m not using a VPN, filled out the correct information on the initial page and after submitting the captcha numbers, I get this….

I thought you meant you could not open the site when you wrote that you could not connect to it.

That message can mean many things. It can be caused by an error on the first page when you enter your info. Or you are to early or to late to do the report. If you have not done a online report since doing one in person that could be the problem due to the office not updating the online records.

Yeah…at first I couldn’t open the site when I tried clicking on the link to the online service via the immigration website (used 2 different browsers).  Your link worked however.  I’m probably too late to do the report online as my 90 day is due this week and if I remember correctly, it must be done at least 7 days prior to the date if attempting to do it online.  Looks like a trip to MTT is in order.

It was changed to up to 15 days early to the report date last year.

Many people doing their reports to Bangkok immigration have problems doing them due to them not updating the online system when reports were done in person or they did a new extension of stay since the last report.

I don't know why people find reporting 90 day report a hassle.

 

I did it a week ago online, it's a breeze. They have improved the software unlike in the past which was buggy.

For most people in Bangkok it does not work at this time as the system does not contain a lot of the data needed to check your input. That seems to be mainly because Bangkok immigration has not been entering necessary data from applications done in person or by mail.

 

The experience in other provinces varies.
