A few years ago I was speaking to an American. He couldn’t fly anymore because of a heart problem. His trip on a cargo ship from BKK to San Francisco cost him just under $2k.

I’ve traveled on a cargo ship as a passenger. The room was a bit spartan and not a lot to do.

BKK to Harwich 12 days.

How? Thanks for any useful info!! I just don't want to fly...Can go on a cruise or tramp steamer but would prefer a real cruiser..

You missed commercial cruises by 1.5-2 years... and the press gang by 200!! ????????

My pal took a cruise via SE Asia from UK to Bangkok January 2020 but pre covid. Cruises are very popular. Have they all been cancelled. Press gangs are alive and well in Africa.

seems doable

By using Ferries.co.uk you will be able to find Ferries to Thailand with all leading ferry companies. ... Ferries.co.uk presents 429 ferries to Thailand, with 12 ferry companies sailing from 47 ports with a choice of up to 46 ferry destinations in Thailand.

There are no ferries to Thailand from Europe, you are misreading the website.

If you don't like to fly why not use a train? Except crossing Cambodia you can get anywhere in Europe - have to use a bus and river ferry in Cambodia.

Of course not possible until this thingie has passed, maybe next year?

Retired ships Master carting Containers..We would have occasional passengers or supernumeraries as they where called. Paying just to get from A to B and that's all you got. No extra service just a room and 3 meals a day. The corona is probably scaring shipping companies now and I doubt if they would take the risk anymore.

What extra service could one wish for ????

You could do check for a trip as passenger on a cargo ship. Seems not too bad.

Looked at this......the cost is staggering considering all you get is a cabin (that would have remained empty) and food.
