BANGKOK (NNT) - Provinces across the country are now putting up more field hospitals to cope with the surge in COVID-19 cases. These field facilities are intended to accommodate patients with mild symptoms, while freeing up beds at general hospitals for those in more critical condition.

Chai Nat Province is preparing to open its second field hospital for recovered COVID-19 patients. The 140-bed field hospital will accommodate patients whose symptoms show improvement after staying for 10 days at the province’s first field hospital.

This field hospital extension effort by Chai Nat Province is in line with the directive from a Minister attached to Office of the Prime Minister, Mr Anucha Nakasai.

Chai Nat province has seen 254 cases of COVID-19 with an increasing trend of new cases daily. The provincial government and provincial administrative organization have enforced stringent measures to contain the spread, while assisting villagers affected by the crisis.

Meanwhile, Nong Khai City Municipality is also preparing the city’s second field hospital, operating as an extension of the first field hospital as the number of active COVID-19 cases is growing.

The new 40-bed field hospital is located at a gymnasium of Nong Khai Provincial Administrative Organization. Work is underway to install an air conditioning system, electrical system, cardboard beds and bedding, tables and chairs, as well as fences around the facility.

Once open, this field hospital will accommodate code-green patients with mild symptoms, whose condition has improved and who are on track for discharge.

The President of Nong Khai Provincial Administrative Organization Yutthana Sritaboot has urged villagers not to panic, as the province needs to prepare facilities in case of emergencies.

He has reassured the public that the organization will take care of them, and everyone shall make it through the COVID-19 crisis together.
