I wonder what will constitute a travel letter?  Can I write it myself?  I guess we'll know later this weekend.

If you're a "Hi-So" you can keep it in your wallet along with your "Get out of jail free card".

I recall back in March 2020 you could not get into a 7/11 without passing an employee with IR gun, gel & noted tracking info. NOW that was a business led initiative long gone.

Same in the mails - many customers breeze pass "security" not conforming to the posted instructions. 99.9% are wearing masks though.

As for open markets - masks mostly on otherwise guidelines ignored.

Not a Yellow shirt (or Red or Brown or Dark Blue or Camo shirt) in sight. Basically just no enforcement - TIT.

99.9% are wearing masks though. (otherwise called chin warmers and one-ear stretchers)

Is this a joke? What restrictions more do they want? What do they think, shutting down the last remaining businesses is going to magically make cases go from 10k a day to nearly none?

This is psychopathy to the fullest extent of the definition. Saving face, and appearing like a “big boy” country to the outside world, with a space program and hi tech submarines, and small covid numbers (through the use of North Korea-esque levels of dystopian crackdowns and restrictions) is more important than the happiness and prosperity of their own countrymen.

What more can they do? They already destroyed the economy completely. What do they want, only having The Tescos and big Cs, and the 7/11s as the only businesses remaining, with a 3 person inside limit? Oh but don’t worry, the PM gave some of the population a one time payment of about $250, so everything is ok.

I’ve been trying to figure out what is a better leader for a country, the current government, or these dead batteries in my air conditioner’s remote. The dead batteries didn’t fumble at a key moment during a pandemic, the dead batteries didn't do more harm than good with their policies, with ineffective lockdowns and a lack of vaccines, and the dead batteries didn’t say bafflingly stupid things like “close as many businesses as we can”.... so I’m going to have to go ahead and give the dead batteries the nod, as to what would be a better leader for a country.

Wht has the world (except Sweden and few others) not followed the guidelines established over decades?

WHO Oct 2019 Pandemic Guidelines

Lockdowns are not recommended

I recommend everyone read the summary pages 13 – 18

Page 26

OVERALL RESULT OF EVIDENCE ON FACE MASKS   Ten RCTs were included in the meta-analysis, and there was no evidence that face masks are effective in reducing transmission of laboratory-confirmed influenza.

Yes, you can blame them I'm afraid. They are insurers, the whole idea is that they assess the risks before the write the policy. By all means stop issuing new policies if the risk is now too great, but they shouldn't go cancelling existing policies.

That is like selling someone an umbrella and demanding it back if it rains!

The problem of course is that they all jumped on the bandwagon two years ago - and issued policies with no questions asked. The premiums for my healthy teenage daughter and me as a 64 year old diabetic were the same, whereas my risk of hospitalisation, and therefore claiming, are significantly greater.

AZ is a western vaccine. But they are not able to make it in sufficient quantities by themselves. Which however has not stopped them to make great promises to whole ASEAN who are the victims now.

Yes it's a western vac but seems to have problems making a lot of it.   Even India  known as a large manufacturer of vaccines has had problems producing enough. We don't use AZ in the US but  Brits have us using a factory in US to make it for them for distribution in EU/Asia.

Reminds me of the gas shortage in the US in the 70's and rationing.  You could only get gas on a odd day if your license plate ended in an odd number and so on.

Let's hope this crazy idea gets rejected!

Two of the additional #COVID19 measures being considered by the govt for Metro Bangkok are permitting people to leave homes only on Mon, Weds & Fri and shutting down supermarkets plus restaurants on alternate day. Be prepared folks. #Thailand

So you have twice as many people shopping on the opening days. Brilliant idea. Well done. ????

The PM is a lunatic, on one had he saying tighter restrictions close more businesses,  Thai,s are not obeying the Grand Master, get tested every 3 to 5 at your expense they are struggling even to afford to buy food for there families, pay there bills and this imbecile thinks they have money to buy test kits.

And the on the other hand the Grand Master wants to open more Sandboxes for him and his bagmen to fill there pockets because the Sandboxes are immuned to everything else happen around them apparently, unfit to be in public office disgraceful man

Boedog , you are a radical thinker and nothing wrong with that accept that we are discussing Thailand affairs where the main consideration starts with money. Don't know about the rest of the western world but in the UK there are free food banks for people with little or no money . Government protection against non payment of house rent and energy bills . Free covid testing and also free DIY home test kits available from most pharmacies . None of the aforementioned exist in Thailand  . The military government is taking care of its own and the very rich whilst the man in the street is just a number .The Thai foreign reserves are rich and will not be touched at any cost soas to keep the Thai baht strong at any cost , so we will always fail to understand the Thai way of thinking unless we put money as the first consideration .

Yep. I turned 16 in 1973 when I got my driver license during the Arab Oil embargo.  Long lines, could only buy a few dollars max of gas at a time.  I and my family did not drive far, but I can't imagine how commuters or in big city populations got through those lines.

Now all that the Thais are doing is making people get together in the same place at the same time and bunching them up.

Chonburi was just declared a Red zone.  More changes coming likely in the next day or so.

Instead of all these changes, how about spending money on vaccines for the Thai people?  Less than 10 per cent vaccinated last I read

How about vaccines for everyone?

I really can't understand it. The majority of expats would gladly pay for good vaccines, even at an inflated price. The gubmint would profit, the country would benefit, what's the downside (unless the Chinese brown envelopes outweigh said benefits).

I have no problem I would pay for it, but I think certain people in this country have their fingers in the pie you know how it works here

All in the terms of the agreement.  By all measures, they should have ordered the Pfizer/Moderna months ago.  They seem fo be in no hurry.
