This will help everyone who has insurance, and a boost in the arm for confidence for the handling of this coming crisis.

Bangkok – Thailand’s insurance company, Syn Mun Kong Insurance, this morning, July 16th, announced the sudden cancelation of its Covid-19 insurance policies following the worsening Covid-19 situation in Thailand.

Talking about more restrictions in Country  should have had a total ban through out thailand travelling inter provincial wise

Get the vaccine programme out to all top priority

Yet talking about the Phuket sandbox working fine plus opening up other areas

Can't see it happening with the rise of the Corivirus numbers daily

The spokesperson for the CCSA, Apisamai Srirangsan, said at a press conference this afternoon that people were not taking overnight “stay at home” restrictions in Bangkok and other areas seriously enough and many people continued to gather, socialize, gamble, drink alcohol, and other behaviors that could continue to spread the Covid-19 virus.

These issues were the original concerns with the spreading of Covid-19 in March 2020. This surely now is an issue of poor enforcement. Kindly shame the offenders as happened before (Remember those initial cases?) and place the offenders in strict HiSo proof quarantine for 14 days with no smart phones or alcohol. (No TV would be counter productive.)

I recall back in March 2020 you could not get into a 7/11 without passing an employee with IR gun, gel & noted tracking info. NOW that was a business led initiative long gone.

Same in the mails - many customers breeze pass "security" not conforming to the posted instructions. 99.9% are wearing masks though.

As for open markets - masks mostly on otherwise guidelines ignored.

Not a Yellow shirt (or Red or Brown or Dark Blue or Camo shirt) in sight. Basically just no enforcement - TIT.

as well as interprovincial travel being locked off

So they couldn't do this after the Thong Lor debacle and they couldn't do this after the outbreak in construction camp.
Nope.  Gotta wait until the virus and spread far and wide.

They had TWO chances to stop this and they failed.  These people are not only short-sighted but criminally incompetent.

Why did they not shut it all down during Songkran unless in their twisted corrupted minds they actually wanted it to spread nationwide.

The less time and opportunity you give people to buy food, the more people will of course be in the same place at the same time to buy the food.

Agreed.

The more I see, the more convinced I am that covid has now mutated into a member of government and is continuously devising ways to get more people in close proximity with each other so that it can continue in its quest to infect more and more humans.

Maybe so - the perfect virus storm out flanking the vaccines relying on human nature to help destroy humanity so in this respect the Covid virus is redundant.

Here is a radical thought.  Try vaccinating the people with a quality vaccine.  Sinovac doesn't count as a quality vaccine.

Quite right.
I have gone out my way to speak with several local Thai business owners over the past two weeks, by asking them if they're going to take the Sinovac vaccine. So far, every single one of them has said no, they do not trust it.

Why are they thinking they would see numbers plunge after only a week, and that is even if a lockdown would have

that effect which is highly doubtful.

They have just caused a new wave as people were running away from BKK. Well done.

so they are blaming the increase in cases/deaths on people not complying with the restrictions?

If that is so, why not just make the penalties for not doing so more severe, thus, the consequences will be more than people will want to experience, rather than enact wider restrictions.

more importantly, however, is that they seem to have expected a "turning off the light switch" effect of the current restrictions on the number of cases/deaths, which isnt medically/scientifically realistic.

the current covid load is based on infections that occurred before the current restrictions were put in place.

The checkpoints are mostly useless, my partner has friends who have departed and returned without even passing a checkpoint.

I'm guessing there are a lot of ways in and out of Bangkok.

So in their weekly meeting of the minds or lack of minds, they all pulled together and realized that Covid doesn't just come out at night and their nightly curfew idea wasn't working and is pretty much useless.

The article says it's because people are not obeying the curfew and continue to socialise gather together and drink alcohol thus spreading Wuflu.

Some <deleted> show up at my door demanding to jamb a pipe cleaner up my nose will be told to <deleted> right off.

Luckily I have a 10ft tall concrete wall surround my house so I will just ignore the door bell !!

First there's the wall. Then there's the dogs.  Then there's us ignoring the people outside.  The dogs normally convince people to go away.

Do they seriously think Thais are about to start using what little money they have now to start buying tests every 3-5 days ?

They get more ludicrous daily

Do you seriously think they'll report themselves if positive?
