[Serious] Anyone know any Foreigner friendly clinics/hospitals for pregnancy test and abortion?

Hey, so my wife is about a week late on her periods so we believe she might be pregnant. Any advice from the community about Foreigner friendly (English speaking) hospitals where we can confirm this suspicion and also possibly terminate the pregnancy in the safest possible manner would be appreciated. Right now we are leaning towards the surgical (Vacumn suction) method as it is all under the doctor's supervision and completely guarantees termination of the pregnancy.

We will get a pregnancy test from the pharmacy soon (apparently it works best after she misses her period).

Looking for advice so we can go the right place and avoid anymore unnecessary stress for my wife.

I have already contact Bumrungrad Hospital and they have completely refused to carry out an abortion.

I have been seeing PDA clinic (next to Cabbages and Condoms, Sukhumvit soi 12) getting recommended very often, it seems professional and clean but also really painful (no anesthesia) with no patient care. Read similar horror stories about Klongtun Hospital.

Looking for recommendations in Bangkok

Thanks in advance for your help. It's really appreciated.

Im no expert but with just 1 week over time are there no tablets that can help. I remember that my ex wife at the time was a week overtime and bought a tablet online and it forced her period an abortion. With one week over time its not a major thing yet.

But let others weigh in as I am not an expert in this field.

A week late is too late for emergency contraception.

Aside from PDA there is the Thai Planned Patenthood clinic.

I haven't heard any feedback but it is sure to be safe. Like PDA geared towards Thais though so best to have a Thai speaker along.

Individual doctors at private hospitals -- including Bumrungrad despite what they told you - will do abortions but it is hit ir miss to find one as many (probably most) will mot. And that process can be traumatic. You can try contacting this group to see if they can give you a suggestion as to doctor:

Women’s Health and Reproductive Rights Foundation of Thailand  (WHRRF)
Tel :
(+66) 2575-0500-1   |   Fax :(+66) 2575-0501  |   Email : [email protected]
Address :48/38 The Paradise, Chaengwattana Road, Soi 14 Bangkok 10210, Thailand

Or - if you can navugate the thai website or have someone who can help do it for you - this group provides doctor referreals

Anesthesia is mot commonly used for vacuum aspiration even in the West.  They sometimes use local anesthetic injected into the cervix but the injection is arguably as or more painful than the procedure. It is a quick procedure. Possible that an upscale private hospital would give IV sedation, you'd have to ask. Also possible that at some  private hospitals they may  do D&C rather than aspiration as a way of getting around hospital admin & staff sensitivities (D&C can be done for many reasons whereas VA has only one use and requires equipment bought solely for that purpose). Despite now being legal on demand, there is a lot of stigma concerning abortion in Thailand and many health professionals won't be willing to participate.

A friends GF had an VA at PDA clinic on Soi 12 8 or 9 years ago.  She said it was uncomfortable but not really painful and over very quickly.  Of course, not everyone reacts the same way.  Very much an assembly line...It's not unusual for them to perform more than 50 a day.
