Thai Prime Minister Approves Tuition Cost Reduction Plan at Public Universities

BANGKOK (NNT) - Thailand’s Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has approved a plan to cap tuition payments at public universities at 50% each semester, to lessen the financial burden on students and their parents amid the COVID-19 pandemic, and is expected to pass the proposed plan to the Cabinet for a budget allocation on 20 July.

13 million AstraZeneca and Sinovac vaccine doses to be administered in Thailand by end of August

8 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine and 5 million doses of Sinovac vaccine are being administered through to the end of August 2021, while 15.38 million doses, mainly of the same two makes, have been administered in Thailand to date, according to the Prime Minister’s Operations Centre today (Friday).

Due to the severe shortage of life-saving medical equipment, such as ventilators, the management of Thammasat University hospital has decided to apply a “Withhold Intubation Rule” for severe COVID-19 patients who are over 75 years old and who are also suffering from AIDS or incurable cancer or are at the end of life or in the last stage of clinical frailty state (increased vulnerability to poor resolution of homoeostasis after a stressor event, which increases the risk of adverse outcome).

AstraZeneca and Pfizer to be used as booster doses for Thai medics – DDC
