Virus surge kills chance of early economic recovery for Thailand

Thailand’s economic recovery looks set to be delayed further, with many research houses revising down their growth forecasts for this year. The economy contracted 6.1 percent last year amid the fallout of the COVID-19 crisis and lockdowns.

 

Earlier this year, many economists were optimistic that it would expand by 2 percent or higher in 2021. However, following the third wave of infections that emerged in April, they have changed their forecasts.

 

With new infections soaring daily, the government has again imposed harsh restrictions and a curfew in Bangkok and the 12 other hotspot provinces.

but it will be all over in a couple of weeks remember thats what they said   and exports going up some one isnt telling the truth but what else can you expect from this mob and the reserves will keep them afloat but some how o dont believe anthing they say thailands going to be in for a rough ride

It would have to be negative again this year 40 million people not spending money here.  If it goes on much longer, I guess it could be considered an economic depression.  But, unfortunately it seems for many mental depression has/is becoming a big problem.
