Thailand projects doubling of daily coronavirus infections next month

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand could see coronavirus cases double to 45,000 per day by early next month, even with current lockdown measures in place, its COVID-19 taskforce said on Friday, as authorities urged people to stay home to reduce infection risks.

Human trials of Thailand’s first COVID protein subunit vaccine to begin in September

The first phase of human trials of a COVID-19 protein subunit vaccine, jointly developed by the Vaccine Research Centre of Chulalongkorn University and Baiya Phytopharm Company, will be launched in September, said Thailand’s Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul today (Friday).

Electricity outage to affect Wichit

PHUKET: The Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) has announced that the electricity supply will be temporarily shut off in parts of Wichit on Tuesday (Aug 17) as work is carried out on installing new high-voltage cables.

The chairman of the National Health Security Office (NHSO)’s bargaining committee said the Government Pharmaceutical Organization (GPO) lied about the purchasing process of 8.5 million antigen test kits (ATK) amid public concerns about the quality of the kits.

Chonburi massage workers and operators protest at Chonburi Provincial Hall, asking for reopening of massage shops or adequate financial aid

Chonburi – A group of area massage workers and operators this morning (August 13th) handed a letter to the Chonburi governor at the Chonburi Provincial Hall asking for the reopening of massage shops or adequate financial aid, claiming that they had little to no aid from the government for continued mandated Covid-19 related closures.

Officials investigate animals at "Tiger Temple" after tourist complaint - all above board

A complaint by a tourist on the 1362 National Parks' hotline led to director of conversation at Ban Pong Sikhapong Krajejan and police visiting Wat Pa Luang Ta Bua or Wat Seua (the so called Tiger Temple) in Sai Yok, Kanchanaburi in western Thailand yesterday.

PPAO seeks B21mn for COVID support, B14mn for tourist attractions

PHUKET: The Phuket Provincial Administrative Organisation (PPAO, or OrBorJor) council has agreed to request B21 million to develop COVID-support services at the Phuket Provincial Hospital and a further B14mn to develop the Promthep Cape ‘skywalk’ and the ‘glass terrace’ viewpoint project at Surin beach.
