Popular Post Bkk Brian
Not a lot of change on the official infections but with a severe lack of testing that's no surprise. Positivity rates continue to show the spread is still in full force. Official testing numbers yesterday for PCR 48,873 a continued downward trend. Very disappointing that testing instead of being ramped up is continuing to decrease. PCR tests, total of 21,157 official new infections, with 658 of those from prison and 20,499 from community. 182 Official covid deaths recorded. Popular Post Danderman123
The question isn’t whether the pandemic has peaked, but rather can lack of testing suppress the numbers so that it looks like the epidemic has peaked? Once the hospital system is swamped, the real number of cases can’t be determined since people aren’t being tested. Closing test centers ensures that there aren’t news stories about long lines of people waiting for tests. 13

I agree and I fully expect the number crunching to go into overdrive as they desperately try to open the country again for mass tourism as quick as possible. The main concern should be the health service. If it is able to function normally and not under strain or pressure then that should be the barometer whether normal service can be resumed. 6

This was always going to be the issue once ATK testing took off. The decrease in PCR testing and the rise in ATK show 2 Things. Firstly the rate of " Official " infections will drop, as the last few Days are showing. Secondly that the Antigen testing due to the nature of the tests will not be controlled, as it should be. This all appears to be a cunning plan for Infection numbers to decline prior to a large event that is due to happen in a few Weeks time.
Popular Post ThailandRyan
As we know, and maybe these are weekend numbers, which i truly doubt, these are numbers associated with only those tested using PCR methods so they can be admitted to a facility of one type or another. Currently still at a large hospital here in BKK with the GF who had a surgical procedure done for medical reasons yesterday. Was told that the hospitals Covid units are full and that includes the CCU and ICU. They still have regular beds, and private rooms, like she is in for general sugeries and such. Obviously those with Covid or thinking they have Covid are being taken care of at another entrance and separate from the main lobby. The nurse explained they have to arrange for transpirt to other facilities if they have room for those that require treatment. I wonder how many rapid tests are being done in the field and at home and how many are awaiting a place to be sent, but must be PCR tested first. Cases numbers are just speculative at this point i feel, and the deaths we see do nit show tge true depth, at keast here in bangkok, as many are passing at home. As always stay safe and take care of your families. Looking forward to what the day brings as far as increased or decreased restrictions. Weerasak has been outstanding in the fight against Covid under very difficult conditions, and I wish him well for a speedy and full recovery. Maybe this will highlight " Long Covid " among the Thai people, as it is something that is very real, and has been given no attention at all by the Authorities. 14 1

Popular Post Danderman123
I was just told by a friend who works factory that she is going to quarantine for 2 weeks. She was given some pills even though she has no symptoms. She had a negative Antigen test on the 13th, and is scheduled for follow up on the 19th. I suspect that these pills are not FDA approved as a Covid prophylactic.
Popular Post Scrotobike
I have lost the plot on how many new cases of covid there are. Popular Post Walker88
Harsh reality seems to have forced authorities around the world to have a new goal with regard to Covid (even if no one has stated it explicitly). This new reality comes from now knowing Covid is not going to go away, even if vaccinations are widespread. The 'herd immunity' meme that was popular last year is now recognized to be wishful thinking. The battle against Covid isn't going to go away, 'magically' or otherwise. The new goal is: reduce Covid at least to the threat level of seasonal flu. This can only be done through widespread vaccination and (likely) yearly booster shots. Some need to be reminded that Covid is not 'just the flu'. Covid, at least using US statistics, has a morbidity rate at least 16 times higher than the common yearly flu. With vaccinations, Covid's virulence can be dramatically reduced. Indeed, the majority of Covid deaths now happening in the US are among the un-vaccinated. Sadly, there are now reports of twice-vaxxed people succumbing to Covid, though the numbers are quite small. Vaccination gives people the best chance of survival. In a morbid sort of way, this is probably good news for the likes of Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca et al, as they will be called upon to produce billions of booster shots each year. Currently many people take a yearly flu shot, but given the much more lethal threat of Covid, many more will choose to take a Covid booster. It may even be required, at least at the private sector level. The best case scenario is that yearly Covid deaths are brought down to roughly the level of yearly flu deaths. Covid will be yet another pathogen we'll all want to avoid, but if we're lucky it can be controlled to such an extent that it will no longer cause healthcare systems to be overrun nor societies to be forced into lockdown. We're not there yet, and won't be for the better part of a year, as there are still some 8-10 billion doses of vaccine still needed just to get the world population up to 70% vaxxed (with 2 jabs per person). Also, widely vaxxed populations---for example the US, Canada, EU, Israel---are now gearing up for boosters. A cynic can admit that somebody's cash register is going to be ringing madly. Ideally it will be Big Pharma, and not morticians, undertakers and crematorium facilities. 8
