PHUKET: An accountant with a Phuket luxury property management firm has been arrested and is facing charges for embezzling B33 million from the company’s accounts

 

Capt Thapapon Pangpimlo of the Phuket City Police confirmed to The Phuket News that Piyada ‘Ann’ Petchlorrian, an accountant with The Cape Residences, is facing charges for the theft, which reportedly was carried out through transactions over the past six to seven years.

 

The police investigation into a complaint filed against Piyada is complete, Capt Thapapon confirmed.

Yes I was misunderstanding the context but at least the reporter seemed like they tried to get more information for a change.

That is why an accountant should not have the right to do payments. Some tasks should be divided to have the person checking the finances also having the power to make payments is dangerous if not stupid.

 

Accountants should register and check things, not have access to banks and being able to initiate payment.

 

Division of labor out of safety was one of the things i was taught during my education as an accountant.
