Jabs, tests and apps: A guide to travel in Thailand as COVID controls ease

Tourism operators are offering some irresistible deals now that the government has eased travel restrictions for people in the 29 “dark red” provinces. And those with itchy feet might be dreaming of revisiting the charms of Chiang Mai, the crystal-clear waters of Phuket or many of the other attractions Thailand has to offer.

 

However, now that the “new normal” has become a way of life, domestic travelers must plan each step carefully before venturing off.

 

Top tip

Though airlines have resumed domestic flights, travelers should take note that the Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) recommends that people only travel “when necessary”. Thailand’s COVID-19 situation has eased somewhat, but the daily toll is still around 15,000 new infections and 200-plus deaths.

 

Travel requirements

While airlines and interprovincial bus operators have resumed services on many routes, they advise passengers to check the rules, regulations and requirements awaiting them at their destination. This can be done by visiting moicovid.com

 

Each province has its own set of measures to screen visitors, especially those from the dark-red zone with the highest infection rate. For instance, some provinces will only accept visitors who have been fully vaccinated, while others are willing to accept a COVID-negative test result.

 

The list of certified laboratories for a COVID test can be found at moph.go.th.

Seems total nonsense to me, different areas in the same country needing wildly different travel requirements.

My top tip,dont play the stupid  games and dont bother going anywhere. Worked for me now for 20  odd  months, whats to miss, rubbish everywhere,  noisy Thais who dont appreciate  peace and quiet, beaches strewn with the remians of their  jolly  outings.

I understand and agree that all this confusion is not conducive towards promoting tourism. 

But Different areas have different concerns to address as it pertains to the control of covid19.

For instance Phuket is an Island and is easier to control travel from and to than Chiang Mai , I am sure you would agree that having the same travel controls for both  would not be very smart.

Yes. Still a part of the entry requirements. 

Yet, there is strong suggestion that this nonsense might be coming to an end by October.

No it is not. The daily toll of new infections was over 20,000. Stop fudging the numbers. The PM has won the vote, please go back to telling the truth.

Since there has been no concerted attempt to limit travel in and out of the epicenter of Bangkok, since the beginning, it is onerous, rather useless, and really serves no purpose to limit domestic tourism, on any level. Maybe the islands. But, other than that? Just more ridiculousness, coming from the center of nonsense and ineffectiveness, the Prayuth administration.

In Thai only. Where can unwashed foreigners get information on where they can travel in Thailand?
