Changing Thai banks for SS deposits

Featured Replies

Recently, I changed my SS retirement deposit from the Bangkok Bank to the Krungthai Bank. I did this simply because I now could avoid a trip into town, check my account online and finally can use an ATM to withdraw funds. In the past, my funds were available anytime past the 4th of each month. I have been reassured both by SS and the US Embassy folks in Manila that a check has/will be deposited on Sept 3rd, however nothing is showing up.  I am assuming that Krungthai Bank takes more time to process the deposit.  Is this correct?

If it ain't broke...

Assume your money arrived on Friday, probably has to be cleared today at the bank manually. If it doesn't show up by close of business today, start inquiring.

I assume it didn't show up at BBL in your "old" account, right?

Today is labor day in the states. If not sent on Friday it will be Wednesday when you will get it.

I get SS at BKK Bank. Not there yet. I think this is the first time it has been as late as the 6th.

I got mine on Friday via New York into my direct deposit account.

UJ, your post had me worried. I checked again and it is there now. They must run them in batches or something.

It could be that it came in after the office in Bangkok closed on Friday.
