People are not being responsible enough after lifting of lockdown measures, official says

Thailand will likely see a spike in the next few weeks due to carelessness on the part of the public, a public health official told Thai Enquirer on Wednesday.

The country lifted some lockdown restrictions on September 1 due to lower covid numbers, allowing dining-in at restaurants and easing travel restrictions.

Inter-province travel has also been allowed with people traveling from and between “redzone” or hard-hit provinces.

Man is his own worst enemy.

☹️

Well I guess people including myself are just fed up with restrictions.

The only ones to blame is the government itself, who completely messed up getting enough vaccines.

Once people are double vaccinated, for sure there will be a huge infection spike. And so what. We can’t live like this forever.

I don’t know about you, but I am going to start living life once I am double vaccinated. Getting first vaccine tomorrow ???? Hopefully, unless they run out and turn me away.

Not seeing that in the Netherlands went quite well. Most infections are those that are not vaccinated. The so called anti vaxers.

If one is stupid enough to listen to this "government" who let the horse out of the gates early so that the virus could spread all over Thailand, then one should know that the race was destined to be lost from the beginning of April.

I for one, don't listen to this incompetent "government", and will continue to listen to what the science suggests, so far, so good.

Well, it seems to have worked out for China with the worlds largest population.

Notice how they are always blaming us? It is never about them, and their lack of policy, their failed vaccination drive, their toxic favoritism with regard to the shutdowns. Am I the only one who is tired of them always pointing the finger at us?

So, let us turn it around on them.

1. How can you demonstrate to us, that you are up for the task of leadership? What have you done for us lately?
2. What are you doing to prove that you can and will protect us?
3. Instead of contact tracing us, how about we trace you, and make sure you are doing your job? How about you report to us daily, and let us know how you are handling and containing this epidemic that happened on your watch? Stop talking, and start working, and doing your jobs.
4. Why did you not prevent this? How did you allow these corrupt officials to let infected people in? Why did you not post 100,000 soldiers on the Burmese border, when infections were spiking there, and low here? What else are these guys doing? I thought they were supposed to serve and protect the nation. What are they doing, on a daily basis? And how are they justified, if they cannot protect us?
5. Why are you not making the vaccines more of a priority? Why isn't the army sacrificing some of its huge budget for the people?
6. What are you planning on offering the people in the way of assistance, so they can survive this disaster you helped create?
7. Can you demonstrate to us why you think Anutin, who has no background whatsoever in the filed of health, is up for the task of tackling this emergency?
8. And why are you shutting down so many businesses, yet you allowed ground zero to remain open to people coming and going since this latest outbreak happened, only closing the province down yesterday? Why such bad decisions, and such extreme incompetence? How do you justify that? How do you explain that? Thousands of cases emanated from Samut province. You knew that would happen.
9. How about a compulsory level of competence and experience, for all future administration appointments to key positions?
10. Why have you been so hard on foreigners, making it so incredibly difficult to fly in, yet so lax on the borders?
11. Why should we allow you to remain in power? What have you done lately to deserve that power?

12. Are you deliberately destroying the tourism industry, in order to rebuild it, without it's nightlife? A purer image, more akin to your fake Quaker image?

13. Why is nobody in a position of power being arrested? Why aren't heads rolling?

One week in and they're already blaming the people for making use of their new freedoms. Ridiculous.

Classic move.

Can hardly have been surprising to many.

Lift the controls, if it goes pear-shaped, have someone lined up to take the fall.

  • Popular Post

Hah I literally posted this last night here:

Quote

Lower the testing to get better numbers so they can have their "mission accomplished!" moment and once things reopen, they can blame the citizens when they jump back up again

It's all so transparent

I mean, we all knew it would happen, but even at my most cynical I didn't think it would take less than 24 hours

The time has come to learn to live with Covid, not hide away from it.

The time to learn to live with Covid is when 70% are inoculated. Only 35% are fully vaccinated, ergo 65% are not.

China has been "successful" because it has a muzzle on its press, and because it has strict international quarantine, of 21 days. Internally there are doubtless many restrictions. It is effectively closed and will remain so until after the 20th Party Conference in October 2022, when President Xi may be named president for an unprecedented third term, or for life. International quarantine will not even be reduced for the Beijing Winter Olympics in February 2022.

The Government has in spite of warnings by the WHO that it would be too soon to lift restrictions and several doctors too here in Thailand, lifted the restrictions. As I wrote yesterday already if the infections will rise again, the people will be blamed instead of the incompetent Government

Yes. Except that time should have been from the very beginning.

That's the new catch cry for sure hearing it 1000 times a day. This is a pandemic of the unvaccinated. Lol

they've probably got a draft of announcements ready for when figures go up

I imagine this public health official prepared it a few weeks ago when finding out the new relaxed lockdown measures were about to come into place

I don't know who's less responsible, the people or the government. But my money goes on the government.

How surprising..... Did Thailand not watch what is going on in the rest of the world the moment measurements are lifted? Btw even with measurements people behave irresponsible. Look at Thairath TV every day. They wear (old dirty) masks, use them as many times as possible, touch them all the time, do not maintain distance while talking etc etc etc etc. Its a big joke !

I would run with all those except your points about politicians previous expertise in the areas for which they are responsible.

If a politician is an utter plonker, reaching an epic level on a consolidated scale of plonkerdom, he will make a complete Horlicks of whatever he is in charge of, whether it be mobile libraries or national health. Competence is needed, and that must be judged, rewarded or rejected by the electorate. The trouble with restricting leadership of ministries to people with specific relevant experience and qualifications is that you de facto hand control of those departments to those who represent the interests of their colleagues, which is often very unwise. You get Generals running the Ministry of Defence, trucking companies running the Ministry of Transport and so on. Political control in the hands of politicians, who have to answer to the electorate. The plonkers (sorry I meant politicians) have all the professional bodies from their areas of responsibility to advise and guide them.

The key is making the plonkers accountable. That is where or why it goes wrong.

Ah you may be right but who elected them???

They are correct though in that Thais just like almost every other country the people are their own worst enemy.

Talked to friends in Ontario and they want to kill everyone that lives in Toronto.  There is s pike the government acts with lockdown or minimize action.

People complain

Government lowers the restrictions and people go out partying and acting like nothing happened.

Same thing happened in Thonglor.

I don't think that "the people" had much say in this bunch assuming (or rather remaining) in power.

From memory they were actually rather comprehensively rejected.

They eventually managed to assemble a shaky majority having banned individuals and dissolved parties. Once they had put together a coalition, the senators, who they had appointed you may remember, swung by to cement it in place.

They bear about as much relationship to parliamentary democracy as The Spanish Inquisition did to religious tolerance!

It’s very easy to blame the people but it’s the administration who are at fault for sitting on there @$$’$ by not having nowhere near enough vaccines they were hoping Covid would be blown away in the wind
