  • The increase is too soon for the impact of fresh infections caused by the "opening" - are these the other side of the massaging of the figures - the release of old cases into the stats?

Gee, who could have predicted all of this with the premature reopening?   And it's only 9 September.

It never stopped spreading the testing was just reduced for PCR tests to only those walking in or requesting treatment.

True. We are at the learn to live with it stage now.

Indonesia with their full lockdown is doing badly.

Everyday almost 10% of infected are dying.

In Vietnam was it almost like this as well.

They would be doing much, much worse in the absence of lockdowns.

It seems they changed how they show the testing.
Before they showed up 48'000 tested in average in the last 7 days.
Now they use 17.94% average tested in the last 7 days.

--> Whatever this 17.94% really means I don't know!

With only 11% of the population fully vaccinated I am not surprised.
With Thailand being so reliant on Tourism they should have been one of the World leaders in vaccinating.

They are catching up.

On Saturday you will be able to read about the 900,000+ vaccinations they will do Friday.

I believe it is now at 15.6%

Not good.

Actually not very relevant - simply being infected isn't a serious issue as most folks don't get very sick - especially the vaccinated ones.

There's a shift coming, away from simply reporting cases.

It's like having a day with 2000 road deaths, where they simply report the total number of accidents (including people who reversed into a wall).

They need to focus more on the ratio of cases (serious unvax and serious vax) - but then this will simply highlight that Thailand is way behind with the vaccines.

Most of these dead and hospitalised are the unvaxxed.

Singapore has many people choosing the 'safer' Chinese traditional Sinovac vaccine - so they aren't very well protected when it comes to Delta.

People are easily confused, worried when they hear about blood clots, and not really aware just how safe the vaccines are... compared to the alternatives.

It's bound to go up a little everyday but still no where near enough even 20% isn't enough.
Let's not forget half of them were vaccinated with Sinovac which is pretty useless against the Delta variant did they already receive a 3rd booster shot?

Bang on the money. Thanks for the reminder. ????

Latest data, 15.6% fully vaccinated and 37% receiving on jab.

Current predictions are that at this rate there could be 70% fully vaccinated by December 8th.

That's fine when 85% are vaccinated. What about when less than 15% are vaccinated. AKA Thailand.

I don't know how they can vaccinate close to a million a day when they don't have that many doses on hand.

Mu waiting to enter the conversation……..

Thats the impression the government has given although Thailand with its vaccination coverage so low is one of the only countries in the world deciding thats the case and its hot on the heals of a warning by WHO last night:

"Some countries with the highest vaccine coverage are now seeing a decoupling of #COVID19 cases and deaths, which is allowing them to reopen their societies without their health systems being overwhelmed"

"However, premature relaxing of public health and social measures is putting unvaccinated and immunocompromised people at extreme risk"-

I read there were 500 cases or so found in a military camp but can't find the link to that now. Maybe later the Pattaya news will clarify?

There was an outbreak at a Military Training Camp in Hua Hin a couple of Days ago ( BKK Post )

I read there were about 70 infections.

Is this the one you are referring too ?

BTW, these poor sods were treated with a mixture of Hand Sanitizer and some other Chemical, and it was sprayed into their Noses and down their Throats

This slight kick up in reported cases comes after a few Days of fairly flatline results.

One thing that stands out is the continued steady rise of Infections within the Prisons.

I have a sense of DeJa Vue, the way the cases are being reported at the moment.

Well, the reopening is already a week old, and Delta comes on fast, so...

But I'm with you that the sudden doubling of cases in Chonburi is strange.

I agree Delta is fast but Thai testing is not - so I still do not think the numbers are new post "opening".

I have heard from a very reliable source that probably Moderna will be coming at the end of October... But nobody speaks about it because they want to use Sinovac and Astra first... Can you imagine the scam??? First they let you pay for a vaccine than they delay the first lot to December... People want to get vaccinated because the virus is spreading fast.. If the Moderna comes in time as ordered, the cuprits will loose 3,9 million doses of their earnings.. If you are vaccinated with two shots already in October you have to wait before you can get your Moderna, because It is not so good to have 2 or 3 different vaccines in a short time.....Today however in the hospital they told my partner that Moderna even is not coming this year but probably next year.... and that the cases in our province are much higher than they write... But in this land who or what must we believe

Just keep vaccinating.

At the current rate of 667k jabs per day, Thailand will hit 70% fully vaccinated on December the 8th of this year.

Keeping in mind that Israel is a little above 60% and the states a little above 50%, this seems promising.

Although infections may keep rising, deaths should stagnate and go down soon.
