PHP352,000 worth of illegal logs seized; four suspects seized in Bulacan

CAMP ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan – Almost PHP352,000 worth of illegal logs were seized while four suspects were arrested in an anti-illegal logging operation conducted in the mountainous part of Doña Remedios Trinidad, town, this province, Wednesday afternoon.

 

In a report on Thursday, Col. Manuel M. Lukban, acting director of the Bulacan Police Provincial Office, said the arrested suspects were identified as Christian Lungalong, July Tamayo, Aldrin Jay Berin, and Rodel Dayson, all residents of Barangay Pias, General Tinio, Nueva Ecija.

 

Lukban said a joint team from the Doña Remedios Trinidad police and Bulacan Environment and Natural Resources Office conducted the operation where the four suspects were caught drifting illegal logs at Sumacbao River at about 5 p.m.

 

Confiscated from the suspects were 7,038 board feet of mixed illegally cut red/white lauan and tanguile lumbers with an estimated value of PHP351, nine hundred.

 

He said the recovered evidence is now in the custody of the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office-Baliuag for proper disposition while appropriate criminal complaints are being prepared for filing in court against the suspects. (PNA)
