So its NOTHING to do with music  then just "appearance:"  yeah thats sums  it  all  up,  looks  over   substance

Exactly.

She’d probably become even richer if she marketed accessories for all her black pink fanboys.

Is she by any chance the daughter of a politician?

Better spend that money on buying food for your own people.

Nope.

As an only child, she was raised by her Thai mother and Swiss stepfather.[14] Lisa's mother is named Chitthip Brüschweiler. Her stepfather is Marco Brüschweiler, a renowned chef, currently active in Thailand.

She is one of the famous K pop idols but she is Thai. One of the few K pop idols that is not Korean.

Won't be surprised if she actually offered to do it for free or just for a very minimal fee to cover her expenses ...

Your choice.

My choice is different.

Indeed that is the whole point different people rate music different. I for once prefer queen 10x over the beatles as i think they are ....

Anyway its just pointless to say that this girl is a bad singer or whatever because guys here don't know her don't like her music.

If she is popular and selected by music magazines then she probably is good.

Unlike what all those old farangs say. I think people get more closed minded as they get older.

You cannot debate movies or music taste differ and so impossible.

“Suppose Lisa’s appearance attracts a million foreign tourists into Thailand and each of them spends an average of 75,000 baht, this will translate into 75 billion baht in foreign exchange,” said Adit, adding that it is a very rare occasion that a Thai-born artist has shot to worldwide fame with just one music video reflecting the Thai identity.

This man is living on another planet. At a time when suicide, homelessness and unemployment are skyrocketing, this nincompoop thinks a million people will come to Thailand because she will be here for a couple of days? What planet is he living on? Where do they find these people? And why do they have any influence? Thailand has been closed for nearly two years, the officials still cannot make up their minds about easing restrictions, you still cannot get one beer in a restaurant, and the people are running around petrified of the zombie apocalypse.

Sorry to say, but tourism here is permanently damaged. Five years from now, they will be lucky if 5 million tourists show up.

Extreme cowardice or willful sabotage? You choose. Woe is Thailand.

Think there is a political dimension here to make Thais happy and let them have something to be proud about too ..

This line of thought is what induce countries to spend millions training athletes in the hope that they will some day win an Olympic Gold even though they know the gold medal is really not worth much  ....
especially as its far from being pure gold and only have a small percentage of gold dust in it ..

5 stars for the use of the word "nincompoop". Genius!

"million tourists spending". As For Lalisa, are 14 year olds the target demographic for Thai tourism?

Lisa by herself? Not the entire Black Pink? 555555555

BTW someone told me that some videos of Black Pink are on a certain porn site. So you guys who know sites can easily find them. 5555

Yes, 14 year-olds are much more desired by the government than booze guzzling, partying, fun loving foreign devils. But, I guess if you bring your daughter to Thailand, you have to do something while she is at the concert. And every other night you are there. 5555  What does the government expect you to do?

They have not thought about that. Planning is not exactly their strong suit. They just throw stuff into the hat, on a daily basis, and that is their plan. These are simply more examples of brain dead leaders, who have no vision, and are NOT leading the nation forward, are not helping the nation to progress, and are not benefitting the people of Thailand.

Major changes need to be made, if Thailand wants to continue to enjoy the cash cow of tourism. Travelers these days simply have too many choices. Creativity is required. Progress needs to be made. Thailand cannot continue to be one of the least progressive nations on earth, and expect foreigners to tolerate that degree of ignorance. These seeds were planted over a decade ago. The hapless army has accelerated the process dramatically.

Seriously, millions of foreign tourists will flock to Thailand to see a Thai singer that nobody has heard of?

Oh she is well known just not among old farangs. The vid below is from  The Toight Show with jimmy Fallon showing Black Pink and he mentions they have over 1.5 Billion streams.   Thing is even if it was Adel  you won't have 1 mil people flying all the way to Thailand to see her perform especially if most of the coutrie's enetertainment  areas are otherwised closed. No drinking, partying, dancing in clubs ect.

BTS and BLACKPINK were the only Korean artists to make Rolling Stone’s “The 50 Best Songs of 2020” list.

On December 7 local time, the American pop culture magazine published its annual picks for the 50 best songs of the year.

BLACKPINK came in on the list at No. 13 with “Ice Cream"

Such groups generally are corporate creations of the Korean (and similarly Japanese) music industries. For the most part, they're pretty/handsome faces / fashionistas that can, if need be, be substituted with others having similar looks / styles.

AFAIK, actual composing / writing / playing talent isn't much required of these folks. But looking good on music videos is. So what kinds of actual talents they have might be a subject for some debate.

"They returned last year with their Square Up EP, and are set to bring their In Your Area tour around the world this year

...All of the songs on Square Up were written by YG Entertainment’s in-house producer Teddy Park in collaboration with various songwriters."

Out of curiosity I watched maybe a minute of the video posted above before switching it off. 4 undeniably beautiful teen girls all legs and loveliness it's true but then both Thailand and Korea have an abundance of beautiful teenage girls all legs and loveliness so it all rests on the songs. Frankly I suspect any other 4 leggy teenage girls could be coached into prancing about and sing as well so I'm not impressed.

In their time we have had some great female singers, Helen Shapiro and others of that period, Abba later on, New Seekers,  Elaine Paige and Barbara Dickson but Black Pink - nope! Pretty and vapid comes to mind and while some Thai teenies might beg their indulgent fathers to bring them to a concert what idiot is going to fly his family halfway round the world, only sit on a hotel sofa while his daughter goes to a concert? And then to fly home to a family event of another 14 days in their home country quarantine hotel?

TAT are dreaming! Perhaps that's why Prayut has legalised marijuana so they can all have sweet dreams?

So, they will bring in a million foreign tourists, this k-pop star and a Western opera singer.  Ok, maybe tourists from Singapore, starved for acts from other parts of the world.  Lisa will bring out the teenagers and tweenies in Thailand, but foreign tourists?

And each tourist will exchange app. US$2,300 when in the country.  The only way they are going to pull that one off is if they paid up front, the whole package in one lump sum paid upon entry ("you pay now!").

This kind of sounds like one of those US teen comedies where the kids try to raise money for new cheerleader outfits, or something like that.

As for Rolling Stone's hit list, a few years ago they released a list of all-time 100 greatest songs.  It was very boomer-centric (ahem!).  #1 was Dylan's "Like a Rolling Stone."  If they had taken a poll to see how many people under 30 ever heard of the singer or song it would have been a rude surprise.

Then they released a new list, of which the boomer writing this post never heard of at least half the people or their songs.  Before BTS came along not many people in the West (of any age) even heard of k-pop boy bands.  A k-pop song called "ice Cream" is now an all-time hit?

Oh wait, isn't there a pandemic?
