Popular Post dinsdale Posted November 18, 2021 Popular Post Posted November 18, 2021 I do wonder about ATK tests. I saw someone self administer yesterday. One nostril only but did rotate the swab 5 times. From what I know you need to do both nostrils before putting the swab into the solution vile. How much of this is happening? One nostril only? Not rotating the swab enough or not at all? Not going deep enough? One or all these can result in a false negative. And again does everyone who gets a positive result report it? I believe this to be part of the reason there are less walkins. Just an obsevation and a thought from me. 5

Even with the better vaccines everybody here will need boosters as its clear they work. Please order enough now not when its too late again. Just look at Israel as an example, the forth wave hit and as soon as boosters were deployed its now right back down to more than manageable levels. UK to adapt fully-vaccinated definition to account for boosters 6

If you look at the graph @Bkk Brianposted above you can see how every week we re trending downward but still each week has a curved shaped to the cases where it rises near the end of each week before falling off to the next level. Could this be because of the weekend testing, a lack of testing or do cases actually ebb and flow like this elsewhere. Not sure but food for thought. I like that cases are dropping but overall they are dropping very slowly. Just had a friend book a hotel down in Hua Hin for the low Krathong weekend. He 8s vaccinated with both AZ vaccines and his wife with just one AZ jab. The paperwork he received says they need to be vaccinated or test negative 72 hours prior to arrival. The question he asked me was "is the one Jab of AZ still okay to travel with because of the 12 weeks in between jabs?" I could not answer that for him and he is now concerned they will be denied entry tomorrow night at the hotel. I told him to go take an ATK test. Was I wrong? 4

Popular Post Bkk Brian Posted November 18, 2021 Popular Post Posted November 18, 2021 November 18, 2021 Thai Enquirer Summary What is more worrisome is the fact that as many as 11 million people in the country have not been vaccinated with a single dose yet, these people are in the rural areas, the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) said. RETURN of SINOVAC. The highly ineffective SinoVac never seems to die out, the 3 southern provinces that have high infection rates has started to see the return of SinoVac as the 1st shot followed with Pfizer. The reason for the region not getting Pfizer as per the plan is that the CCSA says that such a move would bring about shortage of Pfizer doses in Thailand which they want to use for DOSE 3 for people. https://www.thaienquirer.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Thai-Enquirer-Summary-November-18-2021.pdf 1 1 2

dinsdale Posted November 18, 2021 Posted November 18, 2021 Looking at the pic for this article I really hope schools are looking out for more than a fever. Indeed fever is one of the less common symptoms for the vaccinated. Runny nose, blocked nose, cold like symptoms, persistent cough, stomach upset, loss of taste and smell, sneezing and sore throat are all symptoms none of which can be picked up by testing body temperature on less than reliable body temp scanners. On one rather hot day one of these things showed I was suffering from hypothermia with a body temp. of 32oC. Forgot to mention asymptomatic.

Going with my GF to her doctor's appointments over the past few months I have been shown to be 36.3 on the hand scanner, that drops the sanitizer on your hand afterwards, only to be denied entry because the Thermal scanner shows me between 38.5 and 40.5. They then use a hand held scanner they use inside the doctor's office and find I am indeed only 36.3. I also have to show them my vaccination certificate. The GF has to test 2 days before she goes and so do I. The system is irretrievably fubarred. 1 1

If they are counting the boosters in their quest to get to 100 million vaccinations given then those numbers are a true fallacy in my view. In order for it to be true that 100 million vaccines have been given there needs to be the caveat that a percentage possibly 3 to 4 % are from booster shots while some folks have never received a single jab yet. Definitely a long way to go to meet the 70% of the population vaccinated that they loudly proclaimed would happen by the end of the year, but have since changed the numbers to 100 million jabs given 1

There was a very interesting video conference held last year on Thailand's handling of the pandemic and being interviewed there was a professor from one of the Universities in Bangkok, they were doing exactly that and they were detecting the virus before the outbreak clusters, they let officials know to give them a warning but were not contacted back by them. 2 1

I've read that but its not saying anything about it being due to covid lockdowns but more because of people not going to hospital because of cancelled appointments or too scared to catch covid so stayed at home rather than go to hospital leading to greater mortality in certain conditions. 1 1
Bkk Brian Posted November 18, 2021 Posted November 18, 2021 New Covid infections on the rise in Chiang Mai but declining elsewhere The Ministry of Public Health said new COVID-19 infections in Thailand are on a downtrend, with the exception of Chiang Mai where the increase in new patients has necessitated the setting up of a ‘field Intensive Care Unit’ with 50 beds capacity for patients with severe symptoms. The increased number of new infections in Chiang Mai has depleted the number of available beds for Covid patients, especially for patients with severe to critical symptoms that were classified under the Orange and Red categories.
