NewGuy
In my wife’s village near P-lok three family members just got their first shot - AstroZeneca. They were told to come back in three weeks for a second shot - Pfizer. I’m going for my second AZ shot today in Pattaya, 10 weeks after my first shot. I haven’t seen any research on this 3 week schedule, shouldn’t health officials delay the Pfizer shot?
Popular Post mtls2005
There are so many protocols (vaccine combinations and intervals) here it's hard to keep up. The government says any/all combinations are PERFECT. Perhaps the rush to get 2x for 70% (50 mm people) is the driving factor? They can clean up aisle 1 with boosters next year? Now this is rapid... Jeffr2
3 weeks is the recommended time frame. But delaying it a bit won't hurt. Just don't think it'd be good to get it earlier.
tonray
Ireland by way of example, recommends an mRNA vaccine does after AZ (in cases where first AZ was not well tolerated and need to switch) at at least 28 days...so 4 weeks...so in the ballpark as far as duration. I believe their protocols were recommended by the vaccine manufacturers themselves but not a lot of experience of course as all of this is relatively new...but the key is that the mechanisms by which immune response is triggered is different so a shorter duration is not to be mixed up with 2 AZ does recommendations. internationalism
From those 1.5mln pfizer donated by the usa in july there is nothing left of it, unless you pay 25k ro dr anurin at his rancho at khao yai. Half went as a booster to medics, many to foreigners, thai diplomatic corpse and ministry of foreign affairs, which handles this swift distribution. most probably they would be getting sinovac, hence fast second jab

No. A 3 or 4 week schedule is the norm. Long 12 week delays between shots 1 and 2 apply only to AZ--AZ. It does not apply to other combinations even AZ--Pfizer or Pfizer--AZ. This is because AZ is a viral vector vaccine that uses the same vector for both shots. Such vaccines can suffer from anti-vector response, which lessens the immune response when shot 2 is taken too early. This does not apply to other types of vaccines, thus there is no need for a long delay between AZ and Pfizer. AZ is also an excellent vaccine if you wait the recommended time. I am vaccinated with AZ. reading: Reuters Vaccine Mixing Edited November 18, 2021 by rabas 3

1FinickyOne
my 2nd pfizer was scheduled 3 weeks after my first - so, that seems normal - my wife's Astra was a greater interval... maybe 2 months or more.
chilly07
Think they are wasting the AZ by giving Pfizer so quickly. Main reason I opted for AZ is the 12 weeks between jabs giving 6 mths of efficacy. First jab August second November and will be looking for a booster next year.
