Popular Post snoop1130
BANGKOK, Dec 3 (TNA) – The Omicron variant of COVID-19 will definitely enter Thailand and measures can only delay its arrival, warned a health advisor who called for quick inoculation for 10 million unvaccinated people in the country. Dr. Tawee Chotepitayasunon, advisor to the Department of Disease Control and the Department of Medical Services, said that the Omicron variant had been detected overseas a few months ago and was spreading. Finally it would reach Thailand, he predicted. Existing measures including entry denial for people from southern Africa would only delay its arrival. In the meantime, Thailand would have to speed up vaccination for the 10 million people who had not been inoculated to reduce the impacts of outbreaks, Dr. Tawee said. Popular Post RichardColeman
The fact variants arise to me should mean learning to live with it ,not running from it anymore and not shutting everything down again. The stark choice is between some death - mostly of unvaccinated, lifestyle unhealthy people and those 90 and above - or even more total destruction of the economies of the world. The trade off with non-covd deaths and starvation is not worth it. As a slightly unhealthy person, even I still vote open up and live with it. Vaccinate , mask up, test where necessary, wash your hands, and get on with life 26 1 8

TorquayFan
Omicron must already be in Thailand. How it behaves against a different vaccine/immunity profile here will be seen quite quickly. Europe too faces the same uncertainty. Reports that symptoms may be milder have yet to be confirmed. As ever, get the vax and the 'boost' asap . . . "South Africa’s daily confirmed Covid-19 cases almost quadrupled from Tuesday as the omicron variant spreads across the country, showing how contagious the new strain may be. The country recorded 16,055 infections in the last 24 hours and the positivity rate accelerated to 24.3% of tests from 16.5% on Tuesday, according to the National Institute for Communicable Diseases. Popular Post thailand49
Then I urge the Government to obtain and make accessible the two plus million doses of Moderna instead of mixing, matching with the Sino, rationing and claiming to the media as if it is available when it isn't. I think when the government honestly meet it's responsibility the people will step forward and get vaccinated. Until that happens? I suggest like before get your home in order and prepare for what is to come.????

Popular Post Bkk Brian
Reinfections are a big deal with Omicron COVID-19 reinfection study from South Africa yields ominous data about Omicron How the emergence of the Omicron variant will shape the COVID-19 pandemic is still unclear, but new data from South Africa are worrisome. A study published yesterday as a preprint suggests Omicron is causing more infections in people who have recovered from an earlier bout with the virus, one sign that the new variant is able to escape at least some of the immune system’s defenses. “This does not bode well for vaccine-induced immunity,” says virologist Florian Krammer at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. https://www.science.org/content/article/covid-19-reinfection-study-south-africa-yields-ominous-data-about-omicron 2

The chances of the virus only being in one person at the time of identification are a bit like the lottery, virtually certain it traveled elsewhere before identification. Governments have a responsibility to prevent further importation and try and contain what infection is present, but that requires public co-operation. About time people understood the Vaxxes protect most people against serious infection without the need for hospital treatment. And that applies to those who have been infected and recovered. If they are otherwise healthy they have as much immunity as those who are Vaxxed. It's those who are not vaxxed and have not been infected who are at risk.

Thailand has done more to test arrivals than most western countries, in the UK unless you came from a country already red you have been free to mix with the public immediately on arrival.

If I had to take a vaccine now, I'd personally take one with a mix of Sinovac and another one, probably Astra. 3 1
