webfact
Picture: PPTV Dr Thares Kratnairawiwong told PPTV that the cool season was here and with it has come the threat of PM2.5. Air pollution. He had a seven point warning for people in four at risk groups - young and school age children, old people and those with underlying health conditions. Though his advice seemed to transcend these groups. Picture: PPTV People should: 1 Not exercise in areas with high PM2.5 (particulate matter). 2 Wear cloth masks and N95 masks if necessary 3 Clean houses and schools 4 Don't light joss-sticks, have BBQs or burn trash and leaves 5 If children cough or have other symptoms seek medical help 6 People with underlying conditions - just stay inside 7 Follow doctors' orders at all times. The doctor said that the conditions of the cool season exacerbate problems from vehicle emissions, construction site pollution and smoke from the burning of fields. Popular Post starky
Fantastic more reasons to never leave the house, wear masks forever and spend more time with doctors. Great! 1 1
Popular Post khunpa
And there we go… The PM can not even fix the yearly Air-Pollution, but claims to full control over a world-spread virus… 8
Popular Post mikebell
1 Not exercise in areas with high PM2.5 (particulate matter). = Thailand. 2 Wear cloth masks and N95 masks if necessary - PM2.5 is smaller than ANY gauze mask. 3 Clean houses and schools - an impossibility given the Thai work ethic. 4 Don't light joss-sticks, have BBQs or burn trash and leaves - but broiling chicken & running unserviced vehicles is OK. 5 If children cough or have other symptoms seek medical help - quack doctors/pharmacists will sell you cough mixture. 6 People with underlying conditions - just stay inside - and don't breathe. 7 Follow doctors' orders at all times. - All of the above but be aware lung cancer may damage your health. 4 1
Popular Post nowhereman
What's the point of staying inside? At my home we have decent windows and doors by Thai standards of course. I have outdoor and indoor 2.5PM sensors and there is not much difference in pollution levels between the two. The indoor air purifier works great if doors and windows are shut. Outside N95 helps as well. It is a sad state of affairs which is never addressed properly. Government is responsible to put in place adequate laws and supervise them. Great changes have to be made in agriculture, waste management, vehicle standards and corporations have to be forced to invest in environment friendly solutions that already exist. At last public campaigns to educate people to stop their silly habits of burning. I'm not optimistic. I'll just dream on. 3

Popular Post ThaiFelix
Yes its black snow season here again. Woke up this morning to the verandahs all covered in black soot from the 'banned' (lol!) practise of burning the sugar cane fields in the district. This banning reminds me so much of the irresponsible way the govt handled the start of the covid pandemic. They ordered all bars, restaurants and entertainment venues to close but without providing any solution as to how the thousands of now unemployed were going to survive. This in turn sent thousands back to their home villages increasing the spread of covid. Banning the burning of corn and sugar fields is being handled the same way, as no viable alternative is being put forward however as there is no real money involved in this crime the authorities just look the other way.

Popular Post Jerno
And still were told Thailand's the best place to retire, visit or come for health medical procedures. Why hasn't ChaCha fixed this 2.5 problem, instead of billions upon billions spent on the military? Wonder why, wonder why.
