Re-entry Permits At The Airport

Featured Replies

I just renewed my yearly visa extension. It led me to ponder my re-entry permit options.

Suan Phlu or Suwannaphum?

Single or multiple entry?

Now or last minute?

I reckon the airport is the least hassle option. Here is the question. Does anyone have any nightmare stories in which the re-entry permit was refused at the airport?

There have been several posts where the traveler did not have the required photo and thus lost his extension of stay. If you do not travel much the extra 1,000 baht at time of extension renewal may be the best insurance policy you ever bought.

At airport you can only do after check-in so if you are running late it can be a very nerve wracking experience.

Really, I assumed there would be some kind of photo booth at the airport for those absent-minded folks who had forgotten their photos. Even if it was only an immigration officer with a polaroid charging 500B!

Unfortunately at the time of extension, the company's immigration assistant ran off with my passport to the Labour Dept so I had no opportunity to do the re-entry permit there and then. So another trip to Suan Phlu beckons.

I recently visited the re-entry visa place at the airport, thanks to Thai Visa, I knew what size photo I needed and got some done before I left. I also allowed myself lots of extra time (60 more minutes) however the reality was, the staff were quick, helpful and very polite, took 10 mins alltogether and I arrived with 6 other people, 2 Chinese 4 indian gentlemen.

I get myself the multiple re-entry permit for 3.800 Baht every time I renew my visa at Suan Plu emmigration. As I hold the investment visa where new ones are no longer being issued I do not want to run any risks.

Cheers!
