Manager reported that health ministry aide Sathit Pitudecha paid an inspection visit to Suvarnabhumi airport in Bangkok yesterday ahead of a report to the Thai cabinet.

He declared that measures to screen foreign tourists for Covid-19 were excellent and ahead of an anticipated wider influx of tourists they were more than able to cope.

He pointed to low Covid-19 cases among people entering the country and noted that measures were being followed to the letter.

Regarding a Greek letter - namely Omicron - he was also confident.

He felt that with the Thais all wearing masks, social distancing and following the rules and protocols he felt that the new variant could be kept at bay with no New Year "stumble".

Yes Thailand will be special and avoid Omicron, indeed these measures help but keep it at bay, thats a tad optimistic, however he's no epidemiologist so forgiven.

I arrived in Bangkok a week ago. The measures to prevent spread on arrival were not what I would consider 'excellent.'

Specifically the arrivals area to link up with the traveler's Test & Go hotel is a disorganized mess that allows for a lot of interaction with the general airport staff. That entire area is unsupervised too, so if I wanted to do a runner and skip out on Test & Go entirely, I probably could've done so.

In fact..….things look so ship shape he’s going to recommend forming a committee to consider opening a second inbound line.

Nothing about this is excellent and nothing will improve until people stop complying and become ungovernable.

measures to screw foreign tourists are excellent, but those arriving are not tourists but expats, businessmen, traders.

From that  a large part are thai, including workers, taking advantage family visit and have their holiday away from freezing norther hemisphere
