Thai political parties have undergone change, evolution and even transformation in the past year, ahead of a general election expected in the coming year.

Parties large and small – as well as newcomers to the political arena – are actively preparing for the next electoral battle, with more contenders expected to launch as early as next month (January).

The House of Representatives’ four-year term began after the previous election in March 2019 and ends in 2023. However, given volatile political developments, many analysts reckon the next national vote is likely to take place next year – although those in power seem intent on putting it off as long as possible.

Not sure I agree with evolution as a description for the Thai political landscape.

Hopefully, somehow, some way, the youthful element can emerge and take control away from the greedy, non visionary, corrupt, oppressive, ineffective dinosaur leadership this nation is plagued with. It is time for some change. Bring on the change. Please. Dear God, please. The people have suffered enough. The only glaring example of action from Prayuth, is bringing unhappiness to the people.

Same as before then... they used every excuse in the book to delay a national election, until all the pieces were put into strategic places.

Not certain there will actually be any real truly democratic process where anyone can stand, free of vote rigging before and after, and like UK several unelected unmentionable tiers lest teh peasants urged on by Red Shirts actually wrest power.

I think we can be sure usual snouts in trough as the Tcheowchao plutocrats slice and dice the spoils with browner pooyais .

We'll soon see if real democracy happens , the money changes color, RedBSboy and most of the present brass/cops and parts of the regime who illegally overthrew an elected government would be behind bars .

I am not holding my breath. The powers that be successfully rigged last one and a divided short sighted opposition doesn't help.
