Popular Post webfact
While cannabis is no longer listed as an illicit drug under the Narcotics Code, secondary laws and regulations have yet to be amended to reflect its new status. (Photo by Mladen ANTONOV / AFP) Despite cannabis being removed from the Narcotics Code last year, there is still confusion over its legal status given that growers and users continue being arrested for cannabis offenses. Here’s what the public should know when it comes to Thailand’s journey towards the complete legalization of cannabis. Just how legal is cannabis? Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam, the government’s legal guru, has advised people to wait for the air to clear as authorities sort out the issue. mtls2005
They are not going to allow private citizens, let alone aliens (with or without spouses) to grow any cannabis. Cannabis will not be normalized, decriminalized or be made available for medical (unless under the control of the GPO) or recreational purposes. 1 1

marcusb
Couple years back they legalized/decriminalized small quantities in Mexico. Unfortunately most of the policemen didn't get the memo and they still fine/extort money from smokers, especially tourists. Could see that happening here as well. 1

thierryviteau
It's a long time that they are ready... to sell !!! Tons of weed with plenty of THC is already grown in Thailand and ready to be sold as soon as it is legal. Then you have the clowns who still do not understand from whom this decision has already been taken... Thailand is the next weed paradise and I am so happy that all the grumpy old men and idiots, who were against legalization have failed... one more time ! It must be weird being an idiot living in the past without any intention to improve ???? 1

My Missus told me last night, that we can now grow ganga, I tried to explain to her, NO you MAY be able to grow hemp, but first you'd have to register with the govt, then they will take the flowers and leave you with leaves and stalks. Then I asked her "would you eat the leaves and branches of the Durian trees, but not eat the Durian ?" Her eyes glazed over, and off she went to clean the kitchen. LMAO. 2

It must be weird being an idiot living in the past without any intention to improve OK, I'm grumpy, old, an idiot, living in the past but I am NOT against legalization. My home state (U.S.) has been legal for a few years. Other than long lines, things seem to going well there. I do follow this subject closely here, and am aware of thai "drug-law" history. Hence I feel comfortable saying what I say, cannabis normalization, decriminalization, recreational use: fughetaboutit 1

DefaultName
I'm not a fan. Tried it a few times in the late 70's and went back to beer. That said, IMO, the only reason it's illegal is because it's untaxable - anyone with seeds is set for life.
Popular Post connda
My take is that after it is formally legalized, even though "all parts of cannabis are legal except for those containing more than 0.2 percent" it will be next to impossible to enforce if most households are growing it for personal use. My guess is that as "possession of cannabis will no longer be an arrestable offense" the authorities aren't going to waste time trying to enforce the unenforceable. It's decriminalized. People will be able to grow it for personal use. We'll see. Sound encouraging imho. Edited January 24, 2022 by connda

Have a friend who was given the oil at a government hospital , to treat his insomnia and he now has a good nights sleep I drink alcohol for entertainment and smoke cannabis for sleep and arthritis. I don't find cannabis any good for entertainment/recreation because 20 minutes later I'm asleep. I'm not taking this from these English language article, but from what my wife is saying based on Thai News. Thais will get the promise Anutin made - "Thais will be able to grow cannabis like any other Thai herb." I expect that to happen. Remember: Anutin For PM. Happiness To The People!."After the announcement, possession of cannabis will no longer be an arrestable offense, according to Public Health Ministry’s deputy permanent secretary Thongchai Keeratihatthayakon. Neither will growing marijuana bushes get you into legal trouble – as long as they were not being cultivated for industrial purposes."
