My sons private school is refusing to give him a discount on this terms fees.

This is despite minimal face to face teaching as it mainly has been "on-line,

When I say on-line this has been a maximum 3 to 4 hours per day, but not 5 days a week. Is this normal???

I think many of the private schools have resisted discounting school fees after switching to online instruction.

Other than lower utility bills, I suspect costs have either stayed the same or gone up for most schools. They still have to pay salaries, rent or mortgage as usual and have incurred extra costs associated with Covid precautions.

From a parent's standpoint, the school is delivering a lesser product. From the school's perspective, they're incurring the same or perhaps greater costs.

No winners in this situation.
