My wife is specialised in crowns and bridges, had an implant few months ago with bone construction, never had any pain or anything, even not a temporary implant. Not a day pain or what so ever. So I suggest to go back to your dentist! Why did he placed a temporary implant…no need for that…

Seriously?

Never had a tooth crowned without root canal being done before. I regard it as essential to give the repair a long life. Without it I would expect continued problems with that tooth especially infections under the crown

I've had nearly twenty teeth crowned and none were done with root canals.  Four of the crowns are over 25 years old and the others are at least six years old. Never had any pain either after the installation of the temporary or permanent crowns.

IMO, symptom is not a cause nor disease (just effect), however underlying disease is a cause (cause and effect). Nerve send symptom and infections are cause (problem).

I went back to the same dentist because he fully charged for it for permanent crown during crown preparation. He said if can't take the pain then have to go for root canal. He didn't seem to know and care for the root cause. I just preferred to save my nerve that has never been the problem, I opted for the crown because there was some chip-off on the old big filling. So I had no choice but to put in the permanent crown 10 days ago.
Some short sharp sensitivity pain came and gone after 10 days of permanent crown. It has been a nightmare. I wish it is ok after some time.

I have another tooth that was done root canal at the same dental clinics. That tooth need the crown.

Can anyone who has knowledge and experience kindly recommend the best crown specialist in Bangkok?

Thank you and have a nice day!

I am not clear from what you say - is there still pain in that tooth? If so you should see a dentist at once or you could end up losing the tooth.

Re the other tooth that now needs a crown, as a root canal was done already there should be no pain once the crown is on.

In terms of where to go for a crown, personally I use http://www.dentalhospitalbangkok.com/contact.php

I have also seen posters reporting favorably on Bangkok Smile (4 branches) and BDIC

Yes, it is still painful however, tolerable until now. The pain has lasted around a few minutes and gone.
The previous dentist just simply told me the root canal, if still not ok then the tooth extraction as an alternative.

I have no choice but to check it with the next crown specialist when doing another tooth crown.
I prefer your personal use, it will be great if you can recommend the crown specialist at the Dental Hospital Bangkok.

Thank you, Dr Sheryl.

I'm afraid I don't know the names of dentists there. If you tell them it is for a crown on a tooth that already had a root canal, they'll appoint you accordingly.

in my years of going there I only encountered one dentist I did not like. Unfortunately I don't know her name but she was comparatively young and I know her when I see her (doesn't help you, I know). There are other TV members who use this hospital, maybe one of them can provide a suggested name.

Once bitten, twice shy. How could the tooth crown be the nightmare experience to me?

I wish someone who has experience with the tooth/teeth crown can recommend the best professional crown specialist in Bangkok.

No pain is a blessing.
Can you kindly recommend your crown specialist? Is he/she in Bangkok?

Thank you.

Hi, going through my papers I did find a name of a crown specialist at the Dental Hospital that I had specially liked:

Dr. Napongtat  (?spelling?)

I saw him a few years back so nto sure he is still there but you can call and ask. Older man, very good and very nice.

Thank you.

The dentist is Dr. Nattaya Satvinit.  She practices at CM Ram Hospital just on Thursday and Friday afternoons, coming up from Bangkok.  She also teaches at CMU.  I did a google search, thinking she perhaps has a practice in Bangkok, but couldn't find anything.

Thank you so much, Nancyl. Chiang Mai is very far, however if all of your 20 crown or the majority of them were done by her then she is one of the best crown specialists. If so, I should go there.

Have a nice day and weekend to you.

All of my crowns in Thailand were done by her, but I wouldn't recommend coming here unless you plan to stay for several months.  She takes her time with temporary crowns that you wear for several weeks, etc.  I'm astonished when some people go to dental clinics and have their crowns done in a matter of days.  I think those places are targeting tourists who can't stay here for long-term.

Maybe it's because I had so many done at once and my problem was dental erosion, but she made a temporary upper denture that I wore for several weeks while she made adjustments from week-to-week.  It really improved my appearance and my ability to bite into sandwiches, corn-on-the cob, and my speech.  Maybe you don't have as severe a problem as I had.

Dear Dr Sheryl,

I have visited the same dental center on 7th March 2022 (Monday) to check whether the crown overextended over to my gums and the dentist have physically examined it.

My parotid glands (same side with these 2 crowns) have swollen on 10th March and around 2 hours later the swollen has much better.

My parotid glands have swollen again this morning (11th March). I do not have a history of the parotid gland swollen.

My maxillary labial frenum/muco-gingival line above tooth no. 26th (that has crown) also red.

Can you kindly advise whether these parotid glands swollen has related to the dental treatment at the dental center?
If so, what are the possible causes?
If not, what types of doctor should I visit? It will be great if you can recommend the best one.

Thank you so much and have a nice day and weekend ahead!

If there is an infection under the crown then it is possible for this to infect the parotid glands.

Go back to your dentist.

When you say you went to the "same dental center" do you mean the one you went to originally? The one that advised a root canal which you have so far not had?

Yes, it is the one I went to originally. Sorry, my English is not good.

I have written them email regards to the parotid glands swollen, their dentist just reply is to observe for at least 2 more weeks and stop using mouth wash C20 chlorhexidine antiseptic that was given on my last visit.
I am very afraid to revisit them because of so many issues.

It will be great that how to know whether there is an infection under the crown! Can you kindly advise?
I do not have a fever until now.

By the way, One of my another tooth that has already done root canal and not crown yet. I have to delay it again because of the issues one after another.

Thank you so much, Dr. Sheryl.

I am nto a Doctor. (and certainly not a dentist!)

I have already advised you of a suggested dental hospital. I have already  suggested you go there since you do not have confidence in the dentist you are seeing.

Quite possible root canal will be recommended, and as I understand it the original dentist already suggested this initially when you had pain after crown placement, which as was explained earlier in this thread is not normal and was an indication that something was wrong under the crown.
