Muang Pathum Thani police and rescue services were called to the scene of a one vehicle accident on an elevated bridge in Ban Chang sub-district of Pathum Thani heading towards Lam Lukka.

Ejected from the driver's seat of a Honda Jazz onto the roadway was 27 year old Orisara Mahamai, a restaurant owner and singer.

The car had overturned and there was evidence of damage to both walls of the bridge in the accident that occurred around 4 am Sunday morning.

The victim, originally from Chiang Mai had suffered head trauma. She was taken to Thammasat Chalermprakiat hospital for autopsy.

Her mother came to the scene and had to be helped as she nearly fainted, reported Thai Rath who stressed the good looks of the victim.

He mother Issaraporn, 47, said her daughter had not come home and she had been told about the accident by a rescue worker.

She said that her daughter was a diligent worker who provided for her family by running a fish restaurant on the Pathum - Sam Khok Road and doing singing engagements at various restaurants.

Police are investigating two theories - firstly that driving at speed she lost control at the bend or secondly that she had a "lap nai" episode - a microsleep.

Yep, I agree with the above, not wearing seat belts..

They seem to go out of their way to make life a little more dangerous.

Never wearing a helmet when riding motorcycle and refuse to wear a seat belt when driving.

The Mrs makes a special effort to connect the seat belt behind her back so the dash alarms are disabled.

Appears to me she crawled out of the car after it came to a stand still.

Shows how little you know ! It says that she was thrown out of the car. Better quality cars have self locking doors when you pull away, and are designed to stop the door from opening on impact but unlocking when the car stops.

Where are the airbags (driver and curtain) that might have helped prevent or lessen her ejection?

I understand that in some cars the airbags are disabled if the seat belts are not fastened so as to stop them inflating if the car is hit whilst parked. But that could be done with the ignition as well though.

Just more bad driving on a curve at 4am ! I personally don' think she was good looking, in fact in the last photo in the full story, she looks positively evil. Will they check her for drugs/alcohol.:coffee1:

So the airbag will kill her in a front on accident, if not from going through the windscreen?

Have you taken out a large insurance policy on her ????.

I'd also be worried the police would be suspicious, in the event of an accident,  how someone is on the wrong side of a fastened seatbelt. Just my thoughts ????

I just want to add, if this is what your wife does when you are not in the car with her, then I'm not pointing my comments at you, as I know they can have their own mindset regardless what their farang husband thinks or says (but I'd keep the insurance policy..... or get one).
