Vietnam records 55,871 new local Covid cases: highest daily total

The Health Ministry confirmed 55,871 new domestic Covid-19 cases Tuesday, up 9,010 against Monday and the highest daily tally ever, reported VN Express.

 

The three places with the highest numbers of new infections were Hanoi with 6,860 cases, followed by its neighboring provinces of Bac Ninh, 2,842 cases and Bac Giang, 2,500 cases.

 

The Ministry of Health also announced another 77 Covid-19 deaths, including seventeen in Hanoi.

 

The total Covid death toll so far rose to 39,862, accounting for around 1.4 percent of all infections.

 

HCMC, the former epicenter, recorded 1,352 new cases and one death.

 

Of 510,176 Covid-19 patients under treatment in the country, 3,434 are severe cases.

 

Around 75.4 million people of Vietnam's 96-million population have been vaccinated with two doses, including 67.3 million adults and 8.1 million children aged 12-17.

 

Besides, 21.89 million third doses have been administered among adults.
