Trying to understand Visa Exempt and Visa in Arrival

Featured Replies

For what i understand now

I am The Netherlands

The VISA EXEMPTION RULE allows tourists from 64 countries1 to enter Thailand without a visa. They are granted to stay a maximum of 30 days if they are entering Thailand via an international airport or entering through a land border checkpoint from neighboring countries. ... The visit is strictly for tourism purposes

the period of exemption is extended to 45 days

Aliens entering Thailand by any means under the Tourist Visa Exemption scheme are required at the port of entry to have proof of onward travel (confirmed air, train, bus or boat tickets) to leave Thailand within 30 days after the date of arrival, otherwise a tourist visa must be obtained beforing entering Thailand.

1.So i can go to a neighboring country (Cambodia) and WITHOUT any visa return to Thailand?
Is that not the sane as a "visa on arrival"
2.How does visa exempt work.must i pay money for this,or just enter
3.Is the period i can stay in Thailand 30 or 45 days
4.Do i need a return/onward ticket?
5.Can i extend this with 30 days?
I understand that i must do the Thailand Pass + Test N GO scheme (1 day+PCR) + Insurance

Thx

1. It is not the same as a visa on arrival.

A visa on arrival only allows a 15 day stay after you apply for it and pay a 2000 baht fee if your are from one the 18 countries allowed to apply for it.

2. You do not have to pay anything when entering visa exempt.

3. You get 30 days now. For a few months they increased it to 45 days due to the 14 day quarantine period.

4. The airline can ask for a ticket out of the country within 30 days. It can be a one way flight to anywhere. Immigration does not normally ask to see the ticket out of the country.

5, You apply for one 30 day extension at immigration.

You have to apply for a Thailand Pass to enter the country.

If doing the Test & Go entry after March 1st you will need to reserve a 1 night stay at a SHAplus+ or AQ hotel and a RT-PCR test and then on day 5 do a self test using a ATK and submit the results.
