Pattaya-Pattaya and Jomtien chair, umbrella, food, and other vendors are not happy.

As Covid19 cases have reached record highs both nationally and locally this week many domestic tourists and visitors are staying away according to Pattaya Beach vendor associations who spoke with local media this week.

Nationally, the Thai government has currently set a level four Covid19 alert which sets multiple suggestions and advice, but not mandates. One of these is to discourage interprovincial travel and encourage people to stay at home.

Another of the level four alert guidelines is no major events or gatherings…as a result Pattaya has postponed the music festival scheduled for every weekend in March. There is no set date for the festival to resume. Pattaya has also asked for no events or gatherings to be held from the private sector with more than fifty people until further notice.

Considering the rise of Omicron at the moment this would make sense, keep things quiet for a month and let the health service cope with what they have now and treat them all, before having mass gatherings and crashing the system with new infections.

Slow & steady wins the race.

Vendors must follow the government's drive to a digital economy for success.

Establish online government-controlled digital Thailand  beaches run by beach vendors set with virtual chairs with umbrellas ala the movie Free Guy. Virtual smoking and alcohol allowed!

Meanwhile, in the real world, shopping centres and entertainment venues are pretty much back to normal in most places. Which might explain why potential visitors are there and not here.

In the real world there more people vaccinated with Pfizer and Moderna, instead of Sinovac, Sinopharm. Besides in the real world there were strict measurements too to control the Covid, instead of urging people to celebrate New Year get holidays and travel around to stimulate the economy.  Even in Pattaya there was a 4 weeks music festival to celebrate the reopening of the country. If the Thai Government had done better things, indeed everything could go back to normal, but we all know how they solved the crisis, but in Thailand it is common to do nothing if the problems are small and if the problems are getting out of hand they don't know how to solve them anymore.
