Popular Post Mole
Looks like stray puppies on the beach. But perhaps not strays because 1 of them have a collar. Very friendly bunch, they all would lick my legs. The mother looks thin and frail, but the puppies seems to be pretty well fed. They hang out at Thong Tanod beach. หาดท้องตะโหนด https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GAkrGZ6NRPU Edited June 28, 2014 by Mole
Popular Post Mole
Had a morning walk from Thong Krut to Raja Ferry pier. 13 or so km. The tides is nearly at it's lowest for this year. Lots of people were out collecting shells.
PoorSucker
Had a morning walk from Thong Krut to Raja Ferry pier. Spotted some concrete on pic #3, damn the concrete jungle Samui has became.
Mole
That thing has always been there since 5 years ago when I first started walking.
Mole
A short morning stroll on Chaweng Beach during extreme low tide. It was getting late in the morning and the sun was scorching hot, so I decided not to venture out to Matlang Island.
Mole
Sorry state of Chaweng corals. 4 years back, I remember it was all colorful, but now there's this brown seaweed covering everything. I presume they get their nutrients from all the gray water which gets discharged straight into the ocean. This is from just outside Ark Bar. This is from north of the lagoon and west side of Matlang Island. I remember wading though the corals in the middle of the lagoon and it was such a spectacular sight with all these colors. Now it's just this dark brown excrement colored. Edited June 29, 2014 by Mole
Popular Post samuijimmy
Koh Phangan ... a few views August....1 and 2 .... Some one "head over heals" Maehaad beach! New owners at Island View Cabana, have made, huge improvements of keeping the beach clean and groomed each morning! The grooming guy, spent over 3 hours on that stretch.... plus an army of others cleaning up leaves and litter1 This beach was pretty much packed between 11 am and 5pm, (restaurant does a huge lunch trade)...then many head back to their resorts! Chalaklum area (Main road ) View from the Fisherman Restaurant, Ban Tai / Kai border area... excellent place to eat! Perhaps a bit heavier traffic than normal in Tongsala ! Both Lomprayah and Seatran ferries were fully loaded, heading on to Samui, after the KP drop off! They haul bamboo too! Mole
I think recognizes it. It's a bit north of Choeng Mon. The only way to get to it is a trek through the hills north of Choeng Mon. Although there's no buildings there (yet), I've seen some big roads has been recently excavated when I was there in August 2013, so this means that there may be something built there in the near future... http://runkeeper.com/user/SeeingMole/activity/219379261 It's actually 2 small beaches close to each other. It seems to be well known though and there were lots of traces of activities there such as camp fire, trash, etc. This is however not the only beach with no buildings. There's another bigger stretch on the other side of the island, with no buildings and no excavated roads either.
Birdman
North of Choeng Mon is the sea, Mole. North West is Tongsai. North East are rocks and in between that small semi developed beaches. You know Samui really very well, but now you are wrong.
Popular Post samuijimmy
Well all I can say is there are several other beaches around Samui, that are free of buildings too.... All there to discover and some even previously posted on this thread! Looking towards Choeng Mon today. from part of Maenam beach.... interesting how the clouds seem to totally stop from going on the "pointy bit" as Tropicalevo likes to call it! Thanks for trying to help out there Mole! Birdie is obviously not going to reveal his secret spots! Edited August 15, 2014 by samuijimmy
Mole
I was just trying to be a bit vague... Besides, I'm of course talking about the land and not sea and this place is pretty much almost exactly north of western tip of Choeng Mon beach. samuijimmy
^ I see this is going to be a bit of a game !!! I think that small island helps give it way..... hmmm !???? Just to go off this, I saw some thing I thought was quite disgusting on Ban Tai Beach, today.... A new resort being built and they have torn down a beautiful specimen of a tree, which was on the beach...(The King's Land) that many people used for sitting in the shade or swinging from a rope... Here is the remains.... many locals and tourists used it.... very sad.... I think! Nice view, but it was also nice to have the shade...
Popular Post samuijimmy
Any one on Samui right now, could not ask for better weather ... a few clouds but generally very nice! The air so clear too! Headed toward Lamai from Chawang, ...just a perfect scene (near the Big rock) or off Maenam beach this evening... Lots of kids swimming... off the end of Maenam resort road, water not too deep there! end of a lovely day!

I often don't bother to see amount of read topics on the forums, but I see this is one of the highest for the island forum.... so it makes the effort worth while and helps keep me out of trouble! Today, I had three hours to "kill" waiting for Immigration, so decided to walk the fascinating streets of Nathon... lot's of interesting older buildings there and lots of photo ops! Here are just a few, but I will post more in the Photo and arts part of this forum...http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/forum/84-photography-and-the-arts/ Nathon, getting towards the end of the main street make over! Lots of taring up to do the new drainage system.... A little awkward for tourists and shop owners at the moment, but I think the end result will be good! Trying to solve a problem! .... I think will be easier when the tide comes up! Many older and interesting buildings around the centre of town.... Nice to just wander around... All kinds of fascinating shops and houses and many Thai's do love the plants in pots! What a nice guy, holding a "sun-brella for his dahling! Currently there is a market going on near the pier ...lots of happy smiling faces! you can buy anything from wood chippers to mattresses! (the wood chippers actually work very well!)
