Visa Stamp And Work Permit Related

Recommended Posts

i for some reason found out the hard way that i only get a 90 work permit.

actually its not 90 days..its until the stamp on my passport runs out (ie. if the stamp says i have to leave the country on the 30 sept then my w/p also expires on the 30)

i have a 1 year visa.

anyway, i got our company to remew my visa.went to immigration to collect it on monday only to find out that i had a 1 day work permit as my exit stamp was for the 29th. i very nearly blew my lid.....the steam was rising...and a few words were spoken...i couldnt control myself.....giving me a w/p for 1 day....F$#KING STUPID.

anyway.i had been out of the country last week and had a new stamp but the lady in our office applied before i went away and used my last exit stamp.

so problem solved now as they renewed it yesterday.but cost money again.

the question is how can i get a longer work permit?

and how much will it cost the company?

i had a longer one for the last company i worked for but it was all handled through the agent here.

^ Are you sure I thought it was 1,900 regardless of how long you got? I pay 1,900 per year to extend for a year! And in the past I've paid 1,900 for 30 days well it was 500 Baht back then, but it would now be 1,900 Baht!).

I think Split depending on who you work for the reason you're only getting 90 days at a time is your business doesn't have enough capital (Indo Siam or one of them boys knows better than me), or you're not earning the required minimum wages (if they're being enforced yet) or you work for a school that might not be certified etc.

ok so it is possible to get a 1 year work permit.

the guy at immigration kept saying no as my exit stamp was only for 90 days!!!!

trying to explain to officials is tiring, even in my own country.

:o

I don't understand why your work permit is only for 90 days.

Surely your employer has applied for 1 year, assuming you meet the requirements.

Once you have your work permit for 1 year

You go to immigration and ask for an extension to match.

Should be very straight forward.

Always was in the past!!

Astral,

As mentioned in the post above yours there are VALID reasons why SOME people only get 90 days at a time. It's a reasonbly common practice in Phuket (for divers, teachers, business without the required wedge/Thai staff) Samui (the same) and quite often for provincial teachers.

Feel something is completely mixed up here.

The WP will never be granted for a longer period than the permission to stay.

Once 'your permission to stay is to expire, go to the immigration to ask for an extension, supported by all the documents they want to see. (Balance sheets, tax reports, staff-list etc. etc.)

Usually, you will first get a stamp in the p/port tht says, that your application is under consideration and you shold report back by date .....(usually 30 days later)

With this stamp go to the labor dept., show your w/p and they will extent to the same date, not a single day longer.

Next time immigration might give you a stamp, still under considration, come back by ....., again you can extent the WP by such period, only.

When your permission to stay finally is extented, by 90 days or 365 days, your passport will be stampede accordingly and again you have to go to the labour dept. to get the WP extented.

A bit of a hazzle, to go back and forth, well I cannot change the rules.

It is 1900 baht for each and every extension. Apply for a one year work permit and then go to immigration with it and apply for an extension to match the work permit.

me thinks i got it....

the w/p last a year as long as you renew it everytime i renew my visa in my PP.

Every 90 days or so.

why i dont get a 1 year one i dont know, but as someone said it may have to do with the paid up capital of the company.

thanks for the help
