Daily News continued to report on the disappearance of a conscript at a camp in Lopburi.

 

The 21 year old called Phana or "New" went AWOL on 11th March at 4.09 am.

 

He left his entire military uniform, two phones and chargers in the undergrowth behind the camp.

 

He hasn't been seen since. His mother has dismissed army claims the man is a simple deserter.

 

She said he would call her - he does every day. And he cherished the iPhone she had given him. Surely he wouldn't leave that behind, said mum, fearing malice has visited her son.

Now the military have confirmed that the deserter, as they call him, had been caught taking 4 Yaba that he had bought for 50 baht each.

 

He was reprimanded and ordered to get fit as a punishment just a couple of days before he absconded.

 

He ran off leaving his military life behind. Or has his disappearance more sinister undertones?

 

Investigations continue.

Some kind of military hazing gone wrong???????

Yaba addicts would take the phone to sell.

 

Probably got caught then perhaps punished severely enough to die.

 

It not unheard of in Thailand.

Very sus. Ordered to get fit or forced ?  Either the getting fit punishment killed him, or he just could not take anymore physical abuse. my bet is the first one.
