The “rich 8888” (rich 8888) license plate number was put up for auction with its opening price of 1.5 million baht. The auction ended with the final bid price of 11.1 million baht. The final price was 18.56 million baht which is the third highest price since the auctions of auspicious license plate numbers started in 2003. You're showing others how rich you are, but considering good fakes are available, and that the genuine bag is no better than a fake... and that they do not appreciate in value. So really the people who buy really expensive bags are just showing others how stupid (ad wealthy) they are. It's a bit different for licence plates, but not much.
