I don't get buffering on Netflix if just on the Thai service. The UK one can be good or bad. The US one (which is the one with the widest choice) is nigh on impossible to watch nowadays.

With all those sources of TV programmes to watch, how long does it take you to browse the content of each one before you decide what to watch? Possibly longer than the actual thing you do decide on!  LOL   And how much does each subscription cost.

The one that I added , asked about the subject of sex and censorship between different countries and the movies Netflix provided , censored or not. Try and keep up if you want to join in with the grown ups.

Nothing is bigger then the Internet phetphet, it may be some years that you have used that option, it really has improved. Its just no hassle at all. I like sport-but living in Thailand I can't watch most of it live, so just waking up the next day taking  just the football or boxing I want, I looked at other options  i.e Box/Kodi etc, to me it was a no brainer.  I think the 1990s was the golden era for movies---I re-watched Reservoir Dogs last night, 29 years old--no problem getting it.

Once again , the statement was about who censors movies and what is available. Come now , you must read the whole context of the topic , not just pick out something that excites you and quote it.

I rarely have to browse all sources before finding something to watch. e.g. On Sunday I started flicking through movies on IPTV and found a series of movies that I hadn't seen (Jesse Stone). Nine movies. I will work through them at my leisure. Took  minutes.

If it's something particular I can use the search facility.

 

Sport. I can pretty much find what I want, be it a certain match or F1.

 

Subscriptions costs vary with different packages. The same as internet packages and speeds do.

 

Apple TV is pretty much a library of all the films and tv series that I have bought over the years. I can stream at home or download to my iPad when travelling.

 

 

 

I did say I used to use torrents years ago. The hassle for me  used to be finding seeds and then waiting for things to download.

You have a Netflix log-in. Where the account was opened is irrelevant. If you're in thailand, and not using a VPN and selecting an IP in the U.K. for example, then you're seeing Netflix/THL.

 

 

 

My sense is that the authorities have kept a light hand re: censorship on streaming services because of parental control options offered (yes, we all know teenagers can hack these), that these are the future and many Netflix, Hulu, Paramount +, Apple TV movies and shows are and will be shot here. And post-production here employs hundreds if not thousands.

 

And, as opposed to broadcasts which can be censored on the fly, or pre-blurred, streaming options are harder tp censor. 

 

And Netflix probably has anti-censorship clauses written into country contracts.

 

Obviously one gaffe, which sets off ultra-nationalists, could bring this all crashing down. Unlike Pornhub though, this might result in a storming of the castle.

There are obviously quite a few advantages to buying something. If there weren't no one would buy anything.

If I thought you were sincere in your "curiosity" then I would list the advantages.

No mtis2005----they buy because not everything has the same product (or better) for free. I thought that was what would have been be obvious.

 

You can give me a list of items that you can get from paying to Apple/Netflix etc every month--that can not be got on the internet for free, but you would prefer not to show anyone that list, because you  think I am not sincere ........yer.......I think I understand.

As far as I know the location of the Netflix subscription is irrelevant to the content available. It is where your IP address is located that limits you, so if not blocked by the content provider a VPN is the only way to access geo blocked content.

So today I have cancelled my (Premium) Netflix subscription as it seems impossible for me to access Netflix from the App on  my Samsung TV & Netflix's advice was to keep unplugging/plugging in my TV until the problem went away (Hello, have you seen the power points in Thailand & do you know how much this TV cost!) 

 

Gutted as the GF loves Netflix for the subtitles so am sure I'll be back before too long but I really am fcked off with them so she can pay if she wants it back...

Would you consider buying a Firestick or an android box? They are not that expensive and you can load Netflix to both of these devices as well as other programs.

 

Can you do a factory reset on your tv as this may help.

Have a (actually 2) Android box(es) + 2 chrome casts (long story short I spent a couple of years with 2 lives split between Singapore & Bangkok so I basically have 2 of everything) but it only supports 1080p so if I were to go down this route then I would need to buy another android box (am loving the excuse for an upgrade ???? ) 

 

Oh I also have a couple of FireTabs ???? - But don't use them for TV except downloading Amazon content when I'm travelling,

I have a 4K Firestick and a Nvidia shield. Both stream 4K very well and and have ongoing support from their manufacturers.

TBH I’m more annoyed about the <deleted>ty Netflix support i got.

 

The Nvidia Shield would be my #1 choice but it’s very expensive compared to other options (I have a couple of Hi-Media boxes that probably cost me less than 1/2 the price). 

 

 

Off for a 3 week trip up north tomorrow, when I get back I’ll order an “Eric Box” (in Bangkok it’s a “Bob Box” ) which will give me all of the streaming channels, can’t remember how much it costs but I know it’s less than 2,000b more than 1,000b and comes with everything including live sports & P2V events.

I have just signed up for the Netflix 99 Baht deal for Smartphone/Tablet only. I have a 10inch tablet and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the albeit low resolution of 480p for the 99 Baht deal. I expected much worse, but it was actually very clear and (for me, others may feel different) enjoyable to watch.

 

Now my question:

What happens if I physically go to visit US or Europe, will I be able to watch Netflix there without a VPN to Thailand?

 

Can I use an Android TV Stick and put Netflix on it and then watch Netflix on my big TV in 480p, even though the plan is supposed to be for smartphones/tablets only?
