MG called me today and said they had multiple new quotes for me, the best was Viriyah, 3rd year insurance on MG4 X-model was 29,000 THB with a 1,000 THB discount so I paid 28,000 THB.

 

600,000 baht cover and up to 5 named drivers of any age.

 

BTW, I got the mileage wrong, it's done almost 23,000 km.

 

It seems all electric cars are 28-30,000 THB which I think is excessive.

MG's carrier, I guess V, was in the 20+k range after the 1st year's free coverage,  to renew the ZS.  Wife's cousin, independent ins broker, who we always used for the ICEVs, was 22k, and Roojai was 9.4k, I think, so yea, went with them.

 

Renewed again with them (Oct), at 13.4k, as everyone else was in the 20+k range.  I think Roojai realized how underpriced they were the previous year.  Or just following the trend of overcharging BEV owners 🙄

 

Give them, Roojai a  chance to recoup some of that money for our oops (235k ?), that they did an excellent job handling, along with MG's repair & body shop, here locally.  Our local dealer is apparently this region's body repair shop, as the oops was at Hua Hin.  We're 100 kms south of HH.

I used to be a fan of Roojai, but I'm not happy with their customer loyalty.

 

They talk of 20%, 30% and 40% No Claims Bonuses, but they don't exist.  

 

They won't cover my daughters till they are 25 and I think they won't cover me after 70 years old too.

 

They won't insure my BYD Seal Performance, but a Premium or Dynamic would be ok.

 

Cars they used to cover, have disappeared from their list.

That's not cheap for an EV car, still a lot cheaper than a Gas car.

They are charging 1,152B for a simple air filter, you should be able to soon buy it yourself for less than 200 baht and save 8,000 baht out of that 32,000 baht,  bring the cost down to 24,000 Baht for 8 years. That is a LOT better no?

We swap out the air filter before taking it in for a check up.  Bought online for 288 baht from MG on Shopee. 

 

Not showing now, as I think they realized they are losing money by making it available.

 

Too easy to swap, one screw to gain access, as it's being the glove box.  Paying whatever the first time 1800 ?, just silly.

 

Fool me once ... 2nd time it's on me ... NO THANKS  For 1500 baht, I can turn a screw and swap it out.

Yes, jacking the price up for less write off value, took away a bit of their shine.

 

Still the cheapest, more than half, that we could find, and the 'oops' service was excellent.

One of the conditions of the MG battery lifetime warranty is that you don’t fit aftermarket parts.

 

I too have an MG4 air filter but I won’t be using it, the dealer can have their 621 baht to fit it.

Still have the original, from the first replacement, and that only goes back in for the check ups.  Then swapped out with online MG filter, although the online one has a different serial #, and maybe the one for MG4 or the VS, but fits all.  

 

We just vacuum the dog hairs & dust off the 'used' one, and replace after the check up.  Still cleans the air and good AQI #s when checking.

Been doing my own Air filter and other non-voiding warrant parts for all cars I owned, saved a lot money on that because dealers (toyota, honda, byd) all want at least 3x for simple things like an Air filter.

 

Warranty cannot be voided by just an air filter, but the trick you did is really smart!

 

Toyota always wanted to take my money with necessary fixes, such as batteries, cabin cleaning, tires, etc. I never bulge.

Toyota asked 29,900 for a set of tires (Michelin 265/50R20), I got in Lazada the newer "Dunlop PT5" for 17,000 Baht, I really love them and definitely better than the originals "Dunlop PT3A". I also changed battery by myself 1 year later and saved another 1500 baht, used same model, they dont even know I changed without a close look.

 

I always think Dealer service are for those who just dont care about the money or can't do themself.

Not complaining about Toyota service, I still think it's one of the best here.

Far better than BYD, which has been a complete joke for the last 2 years.
