Ladies lock your balcony door at night: Serial rapist/thief nabbed near Bangkok

Daily News Thai Caption: Rapist climbed into rooms

 

Daily News reported on the arrest of a serial rapist and thief in Bang Plee, south east of the Thai capital Bangkok.

 

Following a series of four rapes and attempted rapes and robberies in the area provincial chief Pol Maj-Gen Chumphol Phumphuang gave local chief Pol Col Wirot Tatso three days to make an arrest.

 

Taken into custody at a friend's house in Bang Ken was Nares Mantapong, 35, from Khon Kaen. 

 

The media reported that on April 11th the suspect had entered a ladyboy's room on the second floor at 3 am via the unlocked balcony to avoid CCTV.

 

Wirot said that the suspect had just got out of jail at the end of last year after committing rape and robbery.

He got a job in the area and retuned to his previous criminal activity.

 

On the 3rd he entered a ladyboy's room in Soi Wat Sri Waree and stole 1,000 baht.

 

On the 11th he got 200 baht in the incident where the ladyboy ran down the stairs.

 

On the 14th he got 4,000 baht after threatening a woman who resisted.

Then on the 18th he spotted a woman in a shower and waited before stealing a necklace worth about 15,000 baht. 

 

Nares has been charged with robbery at night and rape and detained.

 

The media warned ladies to lock their balcony doors at night.

The headline is a bit like locking the stable door after the horse has bolted. ie 'Ladies lock your doors the rapist has been caught' It would be more relevant to tell ladies to lock their doors if the rapist had not been caught????
