This, in a nutshell is why there are so many problems on the roads here,

Feeling sorry for someone and letting them off with a warning isn't enough

but that's the way it is so if you don't like it ... ????????????

"He had no money for a fine, anyway, and what would be the point of confiscating his bike?

That's not your problem... your job is upholding the law.

At one point it looked like he might kill himself by hitting a crossing truck.

Danger to himself and others

was filmed lying down on his Suzuki Smash then apparently showing his skills by wobbling from side and side and even standing up.

It's not just Australia, the world is full of middle aged delinquents.

People just don't get embarrassed anymore these days.

Could be mental health issues.

This is a very badly worded headline which implies the rider was drunk when, apparently he wasn't.

That aside, I regard this as a very sensible demonstration of good community policing. The guys got no money so fining him is a hollow gesture. Seizing his motorcycle means he cannot make a living, so how's he going to feed himself?

If he cannot feed himself he's likely to turn to crime. Best left to get on with his life. The fortunate factor when a motorcyclist comes to grief is that it usually only involves the rider. so the risk to the public is IMO quite small.
