Well ..... None of the above - US market....But in those same years had an 1- 85 RX7 which was a very fun car to just get in & drive... 2- An 89 Dodge Shelby Daytona 3- 85 Dodge/Mits Montero/Raider SWB 4x4 that I tricked out the 2.6 & it was quick....Had these at the same time....

Unfortunately - my wife totaled the RX7 - then she waited a few years & then totaled the Shelby....I really should have divorced her after the RX & before the Shelby....

My first car was a Mustang 1964 1/2 (was upgrade to 289 from original) and sold in Germany when departed in 1968 - Dang BMW's were about the only cars that routinely passed me on Autobahns (it seemed they had to go full out all the time).  Only other sporty car I owned was a Jag E type which only drove a bit in USA as could not take to Dacca/Dhaka with me and sold 2 years later to someone recovering from a crashed sports car (don't remember type - but he called from hospital to buy).

In Germany I had a Ford Taunus, V4, 1700 cc, a mate who was a mechanic in a past life stripped the engine and cleaned & totally rebuilt it, went like a dream, I so loved that car.

Most fun I have ever had with a car was a Honda Civic, 1974 two door hatchback.

Arthurs Seat on the Mornington Peninsula is a very twisty hill climb of 300 metres elevation.

I would drive the Civic up there to home after picking up fish and chips down below in Dromana. Occasionally, I would get a bogan in a V8 trying to overtake me on the way up.

They never could, even with only 1200 cc of engine it was just too nimble on the hairpin curves. For its time, the engineering was brilliant.

It was also the only car I ever made a profit on, bought it new for $3200, sold it about 6 years later with 100,000 km on the odometer for $3400.

Can't fault that....I do have a friend that has 2 Ford GT's & an Avanti in his garage.... I'd settle for a GT....

Have to be limber & medium built to fit the Cobra - especially the aluminum bodied ones - or oops - hand sized dent ....

Back in the day, my dream car was a Bristol. Aluminium body, some owners stripped off whatever paint was used.

IIRC, the piston stroke was way more than its diameter. Not much on acceleration compared to the oversquare engines favored by Ford, but the top speed for a comparatively small engine was something else.

Nowadays, I'd settle for a Kia Stinger.

My first 'car' before even 'Dell Boy' had one was one of these and could drive it at 16 with a M/C licence.

The fastest car I ever had was this and could reach 70mph in 2nd ! burnt off a mini cooper one time in my youthful madness.

I owned this lovely Triumph Stag many years ago.

Sadly it regularly overheated, common problem with the Stag and the Aussie summers.

It was really nice to drive with the roof off, listening to the rumble of the engine......sports exhaust system.

The convertible V8 was a real head turner.

If we are remembering 1st cars - this (file pic) was the first car I went out & bought by/for myself....

I rebarreled the engine & installed whatever performance parts were available....It ran strong (trans = weak - sucked), & did pretty well cruising with the AH's.....

I narrowed it down between the TR3B & a 1954 Corvette....But, the 'Vette's turned into swimming pools in the rain, so I went with the TR.....

As a matter of fact, this might even be my old one, noting the CA plates.....Same color....

I've owned Fiestas, Escorts, Cortinas, Sierras and Granadas. I've driven hundreds of them as I worked for a main agent in the early 80's. Still have a 2.8 Ghia Granada and a 1.8 turbo Diesel Sierra Estate tucked away.

Not sure what year mine was... late 60's Mustang Mach 1 351 Cleveland.

If only I'd spent more money on a decent camera...
