new US law set to eliminate WEP penalty for SSA retirement benefits
The house passed the bill and it's now in the Senate, where it has 62 sponsors, so it will likely pass there, assuming it's brought for a vote before December 21. I think they're trying to get Schumer to attach it to some other "must pass" legislation to speed things along. The payments will be retroactive to January 2024, so some people will be getting a nice little check whenever they make the payment. It's all computerized, so they should be able to process those quickly. -

Need Help With Lease Problem
I have always believed that using an agent helps get the deposit returned. I would not have paid so much money for a deposit to just any landlord who could just block my calls or disappear after I move out. They are also suppossed to vet landlords so everything is legit and above board. -

Which Pattaya Hospital Won't Rip Me Off ?
PIH - How do you examine the bill closely at PIH when the cashier won't even give you an itemised bill until AFTER YOU PAID even after asking her two times? Is this normal at PIH these days compared to the past experiences by the above poster? I went to PIH on the weekend and at the registration desk I asked for the price to see the correct specialist department for my injury, but only a general doctor was available. I was told that specialist would only be there at night. I was told it costs 200 baht to register with the hospital, 1,000 baht to see doctor and 800 baht for one Xray. The final bill wasn't too far off at around 3,500 baht with some extra charges for things I needed. Doctor fee was actually 100 baht less, but this was supplemented with a 100 baht nursing charge so came to the same amount of 1,000 baht together. There were actually two Xrays done but only one Xray charge on the bill. Do hospitals usually charge per Xray? -

'Deception and denial': Voter views reveal dark truth about Trump's 'mandate'
The public's already seen what Dems regard as competent and the mess they've inflicted on the country. They voted for Trump and his policies (the Repub Party platform). Accordingly the Repub senators will vote for Trump's choices. In a regular confirmation, Dems would claim all are incompetent no matter who they are for the purpose of obstruction. The propaganda media you read will always claim the same thing. The underlying worry is that the established patronage and money flows will be disrupted. We understand that in Thailand, but not in our own countries. Trump's handling of his presidential transition gets approval from most Americans overall and brings near-universal approval from his voters, along with a net-positive response about his selections for Cabinet posts, in particular, Sen. Marco Rubio, who is Trump's pick to be secretary of state. --CBS News poll finds Trump starts on positive note as most approve of transition handling
