"Holy Father" latest: Weird cult leader was growing marijuana - 8 charges laid

Daily News continued to report on the case of the week - that of a weird cult in Chaiyaphum headed by a self styled guru called Phra Bida or Holy Father.

 

He advocated that his disciples should eat his body secretions as well as urine and feces for good health. 

 

He has since been bailed and the cult center shut down. 

 

Yesterday deputy provincial governor Charnchai Sornsriwichai along with police, forestry officials, vets and agricultural department staff went to the property again.

 

Samples were taken of various fluids including fermented fish in jars and other ponds.

A large quantity of starving animals were found including cows, buffaloes, Rusa deer, chickens, ducks, dozens of dogs and cats, an iguana and 24 guinea pigs. 

 

Eight charges have been laid against the Holy Father - 74 year old Thawee Nanla, a mystic with straggly hair and a long white beard. 

 

Several charges have been added to those previously mentioned for trespass and illegally treating illnesses with prohibited subatances.

 

These included charge #4 - growing marijuana. 

 

Others included having protected species in his possession and also having illegal logs.

The sensational case started when 11 human bodies were found at the retreat. 

 

Subsequently police in the Phu Kradung area of Loei went where the now bailed Holy Father was holed up with dozens of his disciples.

I still want to know about the 11 bodies , how they died ,etc,

but the stories are about everything else but them ,

I read a few days ago that post mortems had been ordered, but nothing since then.

I sincerely doubt he was growing 'medical grade' cannabis, otherwise known as hemp fiber by the rest of the world.

He may be a mystic but not that stupid. Probably used his disciples to cultivate, manicure, package and sell his produce while keeping the 'good stuff' (gag!) for themselves.

The term Hemp fibre and medical marijuana bear  little or no relationship to each other and are not interchangable. Hemp is male Marijuana- it gave is name to the county of Hampshire  in the UK. It is indeed low in THC  or more accurately has negligibly potency but low THC medical  marijuana can be female.

You contradict yourself in your own post.  Marijuana and Hemp are two completely different strains, You are completely wrong "Hemp is male Marijuana"  NO it is NOT.

So, is it legal, or is it illegal? And if it is illegal, why does Anutin continue touting it? Will they, and can they ever make up their minds? Or is all of this simply a scam, to earn the RTP additional billions in "franchisee fees"?

I use the term loosely to describe low potency weed. Interesting history though.

 

You probably know it's called 'Ditch weed' in the central USA states like Kansas. It literally grows wild all over that area and is famously impotent. A legacy of the government doing mass plantings there to make rope after the sisal imports were cut off when Japan took over major suppliers in Asia during WWII.

Hemp and marijuana are both cannabis. But, hemp and marijuana are different varieties of the Cannabis sativa species.
